Signed with the Astros for 3 years 15 million... Pricey... Good job on getting that deal Lyon. You will be missed.

AnimalALB He'll be missed. Glad we didn't commit that amount of money for that period of time though.

jfine Wow, that's a little steep. We would have never paid him that much.

jfine I just read that DD doesn't think we'll resign Rodney because of this Lyon move. Apparently Rodney is getting good offers from various teams. I just hope maybe Perry or Zumaya is ready to step up (preferrably Perry). Then again, its just the closer role.

Davisontigerfan I heard that we are pursuing Kevin Gregg! He wasn't to good for the Cubs last year.

rings I think Zumaya will be the closer to start, with Schlereth (new guy) and the Phenom as the backup plans.

Rodney won't be back...too expensive and he's asking for too many years.

Agreed Rings. Zumaya will get the start but everyone and everything I'm reading says Schlereth gets that spot in time.

I could see Rodney back, with no chance of getting Lyon. But damn $15 mill??? That's insanity.

Life without a closer was pretty grim in '08. I won't miss the Rodney roller-coaster, though.

You're right, Gregg sucked for the Cubs last year. He may have led the league in HRs allowed among closers. He's a soft tosser...I hope we are not pursuing him.

Rodney won't stay healthy, regardless...and he'll have a meltdown or two to boot. Million $ arm...ten cent head.

They should've traded him last year as soon as he touched 99 on the gun...
