juliew apart from GHD which cost an arm and a leg, what other slightly cheaper brands are good, or where can I get some bargain GHD ones. I have used Ali's twice and they are so good.

guavafish I went cheap about 18 months back and got some Corallis (sp) ones, but now I have moved to GHD's and they don't compare. Try hqhair.com and compare deals, most offer free mats, hair styling products etc. and if they have just brought out a new version, Ebay shops might be cheaper for the previous versions....

I saw the MK 4 on ebay for just under £90. I want good ones, but that is a lot of money!!!

Kathy Lees Generally, ceramic ones are recommended. The hotter they can get, the straighter they can get your hair but the heat isn't good for your hair.

I've got an Andrew Collinge one which I paid £80 for about 4 years ago. I use it on a low heat setting to protect my hair as I use it often, almost daily. They are great and I can't live without them.

You can get decent ones for about £30-40. Nicky Clarke do one for about £15.

Just invest in a pair of GHDs Jools, they are expensive but definitely worth it!

Apparently you can buy some diamond encrusted straighteners for about £1000.

Kathy Lees Or just nick it the next time you're over at Ali's.

Ali I've just bought my daughter some and they arrived this morning. Including P&P they cost £97 from hqhair.com.

I've had mine about a year now and I wouldn't go back to using ordinary ones now.

pocket rocket I got my GHD'S for £75 in my hairdresser's. They knocked off £25 if you trade in your old straightners to them.

Try asking some local hairdresser's if they are doing any promotion's on GHD's, you might get lucky. :)

wuzysong tbh, my hair is straight anyway, they just smooth it a bit, which is why cheapy ones do, if i was shirly temple, then it would be GHD all the way!!!

Loz I had some Nicky Clarke ones for about 30 quid and they didn't work on my hair at all, my hair is curly naturally, I hate it! I have some Mark Hill thermo-ceramic ones now that were about 90 quid and they've lasted 3 years so far.
