BerserkerMade Finally linked on!

I really enjoyed Beat Root, besides the fact it was dead is ok it was still good to see producers present work, Ques rocked it live which was good but you should have changed the drums every now and then seems like it was the same drums and different sample everytime, with the slow downs and speed ups, changes etc...good stuff though much props!

The tag board "ION CLONES" all good though haha.I can sorta see that hah besides Ques, Jerome & Matt. I really dug the beats Matt was busting with his original samples and record display I just love the dirty grimey feel and jazzfudge/shadow/ninjatune esk feel of your beats I can tell you really looked for your samples and drums, keeping the vinyl art alive the break beat was ill! I like the assortment you rocked. Everyone had bumps but you had a classic feel and thats what I'm into I guess.

Overall all the beats were all good headbangers the Brainstorming dude had killer bumps! Everything was good except for that MC performance, I have to blatantly say he was really really wack! Props to Jerome James who I know is a prime experienced jazz drummer it was intresting to see you rock out of your box.

Thanks and props to the Lightsleepers for a mellow event I wanted to see more art but the art that was up was really good and the open mic should of went longer. I notice a bunch of mcs in the crowd.

adios.

at Grou and Z I, ohh well.

the battle was fresh!

April 30th, 2007 08:08 AM
observ kinda weak though, the keikis aren't able to go to grouch + zionI, 21+, so why wernt their more of them there, i honestly think this is what pushes promoters to do 18+ and eventually 21+ events, because man, i remember a few years back, i was beggging kavet to help get me into the visionaries show at studio1, i mean i knokw oliver and matt had some crazy stories about gettting into shows having kilowatts sneak em in!! but man, you 18 and under folk are sleeping, kavet with trip the lights and bahe with wormwoods are doing this for ya'll, but ya'll are taking it for granted....

sorry for the rant....

but the event was meannnnnn!!

big up mattratt, ques, jeromejames, opp, stan, humdrum, ktc, oliver, lofa+sheela, and all the other artists!

catalyst If we could multiply Observ by 1000, our scene would be sooo thick!
back in the 90's and early 2000's
there were so many heads!

man, if there was a TTL back when i was under 21 i would pay $20.

The worst part is

THE GUYS WHO GET IN FREE, ARE THE ONES WHO TALK THE MOST CRAP!

The worst part is people that argue about "IT COST SO MUCH" or "I AM BROKE"
but
can BUY WEED, DRUGS, ALCOHOL, wait but can't save 12 bucks a month!

word.

May 3rd, 2007 05:13 PM
GRAFZILLA i talked with a couple of beatmakers when i bump into them on hte streets... they think its kinda shitty.. that its "not fair"... so some people are caring less about even participating... i've talked to about 3 people about this... i can only wonder what the hip hop community would think
May 3rd, 2007 09:22 PM
observ for me, comming for a fan and producer standpoint, these are a few things that stand out.....

yeah i think the fairness factor comes into play,

if you've got your family, friends, and thier family, or whoever, you'll get the crowd to sway in your favor, which just sucks...

but this is the part where, "if your beat bumps, then you'll already know whos supposed to win", but thats BS!

people are biased towards who they want to win, they'll say "yeah he should've won that round, but i clapped harder for my homie"..

i mean, if we could get guest judges, not from hawaii to judge, that'd be the freshest yet because not knowing the folk who are entering and comming in with a "fresh ear" will definately slim the chances of biased voting..... or we could go back to the way it was at beat root 2, where aislin *sp? won, where we had both crowd participation as well as 3 or 4 different judges!! i think that was a better format....

sorry to diss the crowd, but damn near 70+% of the people who are in the crowd know nothing behind the science of beats, changeups and progression in the beats, honestly, i would rather have someone who presses play and doesnt play too many pads, but keeps shit progressing and not just doing the same patterns or repeating a sample on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th notes in a bar to chage it up, i mean STRAIGHT UP thats boring! it doesnt matter if your doing it live, its the same ish over and over...

as opposed to if your doing a beat, and it has changeups, the instruments change up, the drums change up, and its a more thought out and its blends well then its much more entertaining from a fan and a producers standpoint!!!

i think sentr1cs video thats up on youtube is an excellent example, check out how many times the instruments change up, and the progression the beat makes, i mean thats so much more difficult to do, to piece 80 different instruments into one track and have it flow in a cohesive way!!! then to play a kick snare hi hat and 1 sample or a loop for 16 bars, break down for 1 bar, then comeback for another 16 bars, whatever, its boring!!!

their is also the gimick factor that comes into play, if your throwing in word samples dissing your opponent, whats that about?? or doing something to draw attention to yourself to get the a rise outta the crowd, come on this isnt 1999 and we're not in a dj battle!!! your beat should speak for itself , their shouldnt be anything that needs to be said.. if you have word elements that are pertinent to your beat that COO, but thowing in "F*CK YOU" or whatever unrelated things, thats weak man, stright up!

forreal doe, opinions are like buttholes, everyones got one, whats yours???????
