Posted April 10th, 2006 07:42 PM IP Yeah Fitness Unlimited definitely. Giant space for every fitness needs. Certainly a lot of ppl go there as well because of the content and structure of the facilities. Blair/Grove aren't specialized in Fitness/Weight training, that's why you can expect "jack" from those places.
Cheers,
Longo

Posted April 10th, 2006 08:29 PM IP I go to Fitness Unlimited too but that place could use some damn AC in the summer and a couple windows wouldnt hurt either. Definitely better than fuckin walnut grove or blair rec centers tho.
Nate when the hell you gonna sign up? Respect my athoratah!

Posted April 13th, 2006 10:30 PM IP I do most of my Training at home .I have a verry bussy home biz , where I need to be close toit as ften as I can . When I do go out to the gym , I go to Golds or the darkest Dungen I can find . I dont need to be with fitness people . I like a little more hard core attitude.
I will look at the girls on the beach instead of the treadmills
A few years ago ( 6-7 ) I had the opertunity to train at the Fitness World In Victoria For Derren Kelly , But I really dont like how they push there clientell like cattle and you get bonuses for bringing in mass amounts of people . I like the smaller more personal gyms where the staff is there almost all the time to help Support Your Local U.G.L

Posted April 13th, 2006 10:57 PM IP Drifter, glad to see you here
Yeah fitness world is definitely notorious for that. Everytime we get someone signing up at my gym who used to go to Fitness World, all they can do is complain about how they hated how they wer tryin to be sold somethin everytime they walk thru the door.
Fitness Unlimited where I work is alot more laid back and the staff doesn't try to pressure you, even sales coordinators who get comissions don't.
BTW-
What's the Derren Kelly? Is that bodybuilding comp or somethin? It sounds familiear. Respect my athoratah!

Posted April 13th, 2006 11:15 PM IP I can't believe I paid for that EZ-Zone meal plan bullshit at fitness world. They gave me a plan and expected me to eat meals like... "3 cups of mushrooms." It was a huge joke.

Posted April 13th, 2006 11:23 PM IP LOL! :P
But yeah I know what u mean, I actually think our gym should have stuff like that to give us trainers more inscentive to get off our asses. I probably slack more than anyone else at work, I barely even try and sell personal training sessions anymore since we stopped getting comission for the only packages that you could manage to sell! Nobody wants to get more than 3 for their first time, and they still pay 30/hour for those sessions. Rates range from 30-41/hour which they don't wana pay when they're gettin damn weight training sessions for FREE!
Time to revamp the way things are done at the gym and start holdin back more info to save for personal training! Respect my athoratah!

Posted April 13th, 2006 11:34 PM IP Well currently I have my Canfit Pro Weight Training & Personal Training certifications, and hopefully soon I'll get around to getting my BCRPA PT. I think I can just challenge the exam and get my manager to write note of reccomendation since I've already been working for a year as a PT at my gym.
The thing is tho, at the gym I work at, it doesn't really matter what tickets i have. Fit world requires BCRPA after 3 months of workin there cuz of insurance purposes, but I'm tempted to just let all my tickets expire and continue workin ther cuz they don't even keep track of it.
If I wana work somewhere else tho I definitely need to get my BCRPA so I might do that this summer.

Posted April 14th, 2006 01:10 AM IP Yeah owning your own gym would be something and definitely a prize to yourself for being with fitness for so long, especially, yourself Drifter who has been in the game for more roughly 12 years-ish.
I, too, would love to start something like that. But just knowing ahead of time how much time, resources, and money you would need to start a simple and small gym, makes me not wanna think about it (lol).
Cheers,
Longo
P.S.
Fit U is the "shizznick" and I think all the local people in the Langley area should join it... *cough* Brad324 *cough*

Posted April 14th, 2006 01:34 PM IP I just got an idea!!! Start one in the okanogan area i'm sure there's not huge competition up there and i want to live there anyways haha, or i always thought of something like on the beach side but i don't know how well the equipment would stand up to weather and i doubt ppl would be enthusiastic enough to haul it in and out of cover go BIG or go HOME!
