RunnersWeb5K.com Women's Only 5K Set for June 24th in Ottawa
The Runner's Web ([url]www.runnersweb.com[/url]) and Somersault Events ([url]www.somersault.ca[/url]) are pleased to announce the return of a women's only road race to the Ottawa and Canadian road running scene.
Ken Parker of the Runner's Web and Terry McKinty of Somersault Promotions both have over thirty years of experience in distance running. Parker, founder of the Runner's Web is the former race director of the Avon Ottawa Run for Women and coaches a women's running club, the Ottawa Athletic Club Racing Team. "I have felt, for a number of years, that bringing back a women's only race would enhance the local running scene. I feel that the partnership with Terry McKinty and Somersault will produce a top quality event."
"We are pleased to be working with a running guru like Ken and are excited about this old but new concept in events", stated, Mr. McKinty. "There are many running events on the local scene, but none in which women and women's fitness running are profiled the way we intend to at this inaugural event. From beginners to some of Canada's fastest women competing for prize money, we will have something for everyone".
The Canadian Aviation Museum offers a great event site and the run course on the NCC Eastern Parkway will be flat and fast. The Aviation Parkway Overpass Start Line is a classic, as is the Museum Finish Line.
The race, sponsored by RunnersWeb.com - the complete running and triathlon resource portal, is being organized and hosted by Somersault Promotions, one of Canada's most successful event organizers.
Why a women's only race?
By resurrecting an Ottawa women's only race, the RunnersWeb.com hopes to encourage women runners of all ability and fitness levels to participate and to provide a stage for competitive women to display their talent.

The event will also support the Ottawa Food Bank. Entrants are asked to bring 2 items of non-perishable food with them when they pick up their race kit.
