actualy jesse i just wondering that myself. i was going to put up a post taht was like..."you know jesse you me and mike/megan are the only ones i ever see here....did everyone slse just forget? do they not have acces to a computer? what are happening here?" yah it went something like that. i post on what i want to post on. what interests me, unfortunatly im not interested in the h-forem and i do post here and the anime forem, but personaly i find the philosophy a little tireing. i like to make a point and thats that. all this disscussion....welll as you can see, not my thing. i give opinions when they are needed and pertinate; you guys can disscuse whatever the hell other usless stuff you want on your own time. i find much of the random "battle" dissineresting because there are no rules and no structure, therefor, very little chalenge, so im not inspired to get creative. er...yah, some other stuff, blah blah,blah. and thats why i post less then say, you.

Wow....too lazy to burn the calories nessessary to preform gross motric movements of ten fingers, i post when im ten or twelve drinks under the table and laying on my side......
The battle forum has no rules, but ive started rolling a d20, and i think thats a good guidline, the d20 helps with everything, the philosophy forum is interesting, but i have trouble with justin, im not sure why, we generally share opinions, but my ability to communicate with him could be compared to my ability to communicate with a very angry chinese baker who speaks no english and saw someone who looked strikingly like me steal fourteen doughnuts from his shop, i post reviews and such in hopes of drawing others in to a discussion, but im the only person who seems to like the media i like (and the only one even willing to watch the media i watch), but, i think its probably that i have no chicago friends (until yesterday, i met a group of highschool freaks i can corrupt, theyre a fascinating group, chemically like the GOC but experiencially COMPLETLY different) and so i depend on this for my dialogues with once close companions....

Not unless you are going to SUBSCRIBE to specific CHANNELS on the internet. Like Wow, I have access to CRAFTS channel... only $14.99 a month. Google search ANIME and you will get "You are not a subscriber to that channel - if you wish to SUBSCRIBE, please give your credit card number and you will be charged a nominal one-time connection fee of $19.95 and a low monthly rate of $29.95."
Do a bittorrent search once you get subscribed to that channel, and you discover to your horror that no such sites exist... to get a slot on a specific channel - ie to provide bittorent links requires a setup free of $300 and $450 a month to run.
that's the future of the internet if we sit on our hands.

Yes, Mori got a little intense about it, but it's an understandable frustration.
And, I myself may be whining, but at least I've chosen to whine about something that fucking matters.
I would get a lot more attention if I posted a sniveling "I am going to commit suicide" pity thread... but I didn't. I chose an issue that believe it or not, affects us all - even looking for availability of locations like the locale of the latest anime fest, or getting a movie schedule... access of information is synonymous with democracy.
And while NPR (your listening choice, not mine) may be hammering it, most of the people in K-Town haven't even heard a news blurb about this topic.
We get the point that you are not interested in politics... or at least perhaps not our flavor. Truth is, my appeal wasn't to you at all.
People who say, "it might inconvenience me to deal with issue X" are in many ways as guilty as those people perpetrating the injustice... and I'm sure that fact has Mori biting nails.
You know, I realize, hey, it's "just" the internet, but what is to follow? This is slippery slope time...

When every single day adds another laundry list of rights taken away, corruptions uncovered, and injustices done, I just can't buy into the Bush mindset. And that far from makes me a terrorist...
I may not have the ego to call myself a patriot, but I'm a lot closer to that than the people who nod in acquiescence until all liberty is gone. Truth is, I bellyache... on the odd chance that the person I sway might actually make some difference.
If you want to ignore the problem, then fine. But please don't get in the way of those few who actually want to do nothing more than "fight against the dying of the light..."

blah... so much drama... I agree that internet neutrality is an important, though depressing, issue.
I'm sure that everyone here agrees on that point. We like our little Bullitein Boards, and though some of us don't utilize it as much, we like our ability to get us some difficult-to-find anime.
I see where Beauty comes from in a way, too, because it's a big issue, and a bothering one, one that, if you live in a major 'liberal' community, you hear you should be doing something about all the time (though many of our forum goers need more of a reminder, living far from any decent news or talk radio), but at the same time, when you DO act on it, you see little result in the short term. The repeated commenting about such things can make you feel even more so like your attempts have gone unnoticed. But still, the response was a bit drastic... though I do note that most of the irritation seems to be at Jesse's assumption that all she seems to care about is anime, more than at the reiteration of points that were already made.
But all of this isn't the point of this forum, anyway. The point is 'why haven't we posted'. well, to be honest, I haven't had much to say about anything lately, in person or out. Mostly, I've been really... indifferent about everything. My manager at Le Denny's has even noticed, saying today "You remind me of my cousin, everything you ask you get the same responses; 'how are you?' 'alright.' 'how's life?' 'okay.'" So yeah... I just... I mean... I care, but I don't have much to say about it most of the time...
Sorry if I've made anyone feel like I don't care. I've just been a bit terse about everything lately. I haven't drawn much, I haven't read much, and even gaming I've been... easily bothered. Last night I actually had a bout of near-depression over my character being relatively useless... I guess because she's my last character, and I feel like she's... fragile... I just want her to stick around... I dont want her to fade into nothing like Shinju did... It makes me feel like I'm fading out of view, sometimes, you know?
I'm going to try and be more active on here...

I guess the topic has switched to internet anime burning but I haven't been posting due to a couple fourty plus hour weeks and full time summer college. Like college but much less crowded. Anyway though I have stopped working so much so I should be posting more again.

*smiles lightly* I'm sorry I've bothered you all, especially with the damn thread I did a while back, but you know... I posted that because I had to get it out... and unfortunetly talking with my parents was NOT an option considering they were the root of the problem and I had already talked to them, doing absolutely nothing. I told you all, because you all are my "FRIENDS" and I wished for some guiding counsel considering most of you are older. I'm sorry I'm childish, selfish, etc. but I'm fucking 17!!! that's how I'm going to be. So I rely upon your help and friendship. Right now, it seems like most of you don't remember that little factor. Of course we're going to have fights, and disagreements, etc. but we're supposed to get over that and get on with the bigger picture. I know that most of 'us' are either gone, or are going away, and we possibly could never see each other again, and that's depressing. But its not as Depressing as the fact that you all are going to let this friendship die because of some dumbass dissagreement on where someone's freedom's are.
Apperantly we lost jesse... and if this keeps up it'll just domino effect, only leaving scraps of the once Grand Oak Clan to rot in time. I Understand that net neutrality is a big deal, I really do, and I'm sure everyone else does as well. Just because some people have chosen not to, or CANNOT, because of lack of time in their life and schedules, call and place their vote against AT&T taking over another industry, doesn't mean we should completely abandon them. We all have different beliefs, which does mean we'll run into conflict, but no matter the outcome, we're supposed to support them which ever way they go. That's how I feel for all of you. Even though some of you do drugs, and I have been forbidden to, I still hang with you guys and let you live without constantly attacking you about it. And I know you guys can do it, for when I had to quit hanging out with you guys, I still felt that warm feeling like I was welcome even though I was a annoying tagalong. ( And I know I was, Don't even lie to me ) Right now, not feeling that, in fact... its like the slow dark cold claws of destruction are clenching around us. Suffercating us.
I guess what I'm really trying to say is.
Please, Shit happens. Its our job to step in it, clean it off, and move on. That's life.

You didnt lose me......I was passionately dissappointed with the situation i was seeing.....plus a few too many drinky drikies at the labour activists party got me riled up for activism and cursing loudly, but, i did too much of one and not the other.....I don't know what shall become of us as a clan, but, I'm pretty sure things won't fall apart in the foreseeable future, people get pissed off, people become disinterested, people are people and they do as they do, I could edit the crap out of my HEAVILY overstated drunken post, but why? it's just a reminder of the failures that make us all human......but save the internet so that we can continue to make such posts without paying 14.95, i assure you, i won't be here if we have to subscribe to shit, we barely have the cash for this connection, so, if you don't want to lose me for real, save the internet......

I even called (which is kinda rare for me to participate in political things) I just hope its enough. Sad thing is... not nearly half the nation knows what's going on. My parents certainly didn't know... and most of my band friends only heard of it. So... yeah.

You know Jesse, I spew a lot of hate when I get angry too. And I'm sure I hurt feelings in the process...
My biggest beef is that it seems that from my experience there is a shitload of apathy out there... and it pisses me off to no end that more people (on youtube for example) are willing to make commentary on a transvestite who calls everyone stupid bitches, than about some relevant social issue... usually by a factor of 10 to one or more.
And that is compunded by the fact that we have more people in country who vote for American Idol than American Issues.
Am I 100% disenfranchised from the system?? Hell yes. It seems like no matter who you vote for, or whichever side you take, that the bigwigs and corporate fucktards have worked out ways to make it work out regardless in their benefit.
It's a pathetic system. Agreed. But it doesn't get better when everyone just nods and accepts it, or ignores it.
I had high hopes with the GOC that they would be the stalwart next generation, embarking on a crusade to right the wrongs and set the world on the right path... and truth told, we can't even get past the same issues (for which I accept my fair share of blame) of apathy, indecision, whining, and petty bickering.
That fact, more than anything else, really hurts for some reason. I guess I let my own expectations beat me up, and felt like lashing out...
I hate the white flag goddamn it. Why do the fuckers always win?

After reading over the past couple of threads, I have one thing to say.

and I'll be just as pissed off at the people that didnt do anything about it, as the people who did it to me if I find myself without freedom.
I must agree with mike. I too share great expectations for us as a people- and it really hurts me to see those people whom I love turn away in apathy.
However, I can understand, in a way. This part of our lives is new and exciting- and often scary. It takes up alot of our time and concentration. Most of us are 17-20, Thats a pretty interesting time of change you know- so maybe everyone's just been preoccupied with maturity and the passing short chapters of this phase of our life.
at times I feel that perhaps all the hounding of the GOC to stay together may be counter productive... at times, it seems that we are utterly incapable of working together.

I need a network, and you folks are the foundation of said network, so that when i show up in tejas later on with a film crew or a band or another whacky scheme, i'll be able to find some people to fill in for the actor that didnt want to show up or help me get a bag when my puritain box is empty (and yes, my current box DOES indeed say 'puritain' it used to be corey's box for rocks, thank god he's out of that shit).....Apathy is the mother of failure, determination is the mother of both productivity and disappointment, but true failure only comes from a lack of effort....

The imformation we send is going through wires, wires that WE pay for from the phone companies, it therefore stands to reason that they control what imformation is readily available to us if they want to install filters, however, at this moment such filters are illegal, but, if a bill is passed allowing them to support only corporate sites from their allies and remove most independent sites from access, rest assured, the programmes were written a long time ago......
