Several weeks ago a letter was sent to our local newspaper expressing concern over the possibility of our Police Dept being shut down and then having to wait....long periods of time for the sheriff's dept to show up when they can.
First of all, I would like to confirm that the PD is down to 3 officers....not counting the chief and not counting school resource. As officers leave they have no intention filling the positions left vacant. Why do they leave?? I have several reasons I could tell you, but you, Gracevillians, have got to get the fortitude to find out for yourself. If you all do actually call city hall and do not get any answers I will give you 2 reasons as to why officers don't stay here.
Do you all care if we lose our PD?
I think one possibility that you all have not thought about is that we may lose our PD, but Graceville can gain a Graceville hired Deputy (Contract Deputy). The bonus that I can see to that is that the Deputy won't kiss the a** of the city council, City manager or whoever else tells the officers NOT to do something. Does anyone take note at all to the expanding water department, but our shrinking PD? When Bruce was chief, I hear tell he wouldn't stand for his department being robbed of the funds that the city constantly wanted to shove over to the water dept. Now Bruce ain't here and the current chief won't stand up for his department...he's just skidding by till he retires. The PD COULD pay for itself in traffic stops, but they are told NOT to do their job (which is illegal).
Rest assured, while talk has not been pulbic about doing away with the PD, talk IS taking place nonetheless.
Since Johnny has been here, have you all noticed that drugs are not sold as openly as they used to be!? Hallelujah! Good job, Johnny and the other officers that are no longer here.
For those who think Graceville does not have a drug problem....would you like to take a drive with me? I'll show you where they are, and I'm not a cop, nor a drug addict!
Is anyone interested at all in Graceville???
Helloooooo? When will you care?? When something directly affects YOU?

Sounds like police departments across the area needs an overhaul! The problem in these small towns is that IDIOTS run them.

the PD in Gville is a Joke.I also am not a drug user or a officer but I can certanly tell you where to find drugs in GVille. If I know ,why doesnt the PD know?Answer? they do but they arent going to do anything cause the chief is skating toward retirement and isnt going to do anything.its been obvious since Ward left as the chief that Commissioner Williams is actually the police chief and uses Horton as a puppet. My question is why didnt Willaims go to school and be a real police man>?Sad that grown people dont get better than this

Williams does not qualify to attend law enforcement training. Basic law enforcement requires a high school diploma or ged. Williams dropped out in the 8th grade like Jethro Bodine (Jed Clampett's nephew).

A little bit of advice for some peeps out there: If you have the fortitude to threaten people NEVER NEVER NEVER for ONE moment think that those people don't have some dirt on you! Would you like it to be made public??

Holmes...you have no idea WHAT I have! I will make public what I wish, when I wish...usually when it benefits me to the utmost! Don't like it? TOUGH! Maybe you should mind your own in Holmes County, you all have plenty of your own problems!
