What a night....

The B main set the tone for the night with a track call less than 6 seconds into the first heat and 5 track calls during the first heat alone. A new record for track calls. The B main also wound up with 15 track calls for the whole race (another record). They weren't alone since the A main also had it's share of track calls. And it wasn't even a full moon. The lap totals were a little lower overall due to all of the carnage. Russ Martin has been the guy to beat for a couple of weeks now and it seems like no one can match his speed, right now. David Schneider and Brett Lee can turn in lap times that are about a tenth off of Russ's pace. While everyone else is 3 to 4 tenths slower. Russ was fast all night and avoided most of the problems and was tied for the lead or in the lead after every heat. The battle for second was really close all night as the results show. With only 10 laps separating 2nd through 7th.

Russ Martin 252
Greg Laves 247
Tim Thomas 243
David Schneider 242
Justin Lewis 240
Brett Lee 239
John Schmuck 237
Chris Miller 230
Larry Wilder 222
David Lewis 216
Sonny Perez 194
Mike Lewis 191
Jason Rodriguez 166

Wow.. 13 entries.
Impressive.

I forget whether ya'll are racing the Flexi or laser chassis.
c- can or d-can?

Guess we better watch out in the GTP class at the next TSRA race.

Hi, El gato loco. We are racing flexi chassis and C-can motors. Armatures are anything short of X-12. no rules to speak of other than runing a flexi chassis.

What do you mean "rules"? We don't need no stinking rules.....

Actually we do have rules. We don't feel any need to march them out for every event. Come to think of it, I never have seen any rules at any other track I have run at. I usually rely on the race organizers word for what the rules are. Just because we aren't running TSRA rules doesn't mean that we don't have rules. We established set rules many years ago and have had no reason to change. For anyone who wants to see our rules, go to www.amslot.com.

I will readily admit that we occasionally let people bend or exceed our rules. For example, if someone shows up with a lazer cut chassis, TSRA legal GTP car, we will let them run it. And they can continue to run it up to the point of where they start winning with it. At that point we will insist that they conform to "our" rules. We want people to come and have fun and we will do anything we can to enourage more racers to enter. Although it sometimes seems like it in the heat of battle, slot car racing is supposed to be fun. Shoot, we let John Ford run ball bearings, even though it did not conform to our rules. We might have harrased him about it but we never tried to force him to change the bearings. On the other hand, if we do see some glaring rules violation, we will probably say something about it and ask them to change it.

There it is again, all in fun. The mind can only expand to a certain point with all the stuff you might have, then its just down right racing at its best. It seems when you are all focused on yourself and into a good sink with yourself the unexpectable happens, you crash in a pile up and you are never happy with how long it took for your car to be put back on, you get nugged, or your timing, on turns, loses its control. Then my friends its a race on yourself and no one else. No matter what in my mind I say to myself, I did the best I could and how can I improve with myself and the equipment. I say, it was alot of fun, lets do it again.

El Gato Loco, you'd better watch out for David. He kicks our butt every week over in Alice. When we started going over, the track record was something like 265 laps. Now it is 293 laps. We come home with our tails between our legs and work on our cars so we can go faster the next week. Then we get faster and get psyched to go try him again. But then the first thing I find out when we get to the track is that he has a new chassis or a new motor or a new widget or something and the new combination is even faster that the car he set the new track record with the week before. I would quit trying if I wasn't so darn stubborn. The only thing that stopped him from setting a new record last week was a timing and scoring glitch that propably cost him 4 or 5 laps.

I am curious John, do you still have those ball bearings or have the been worn out and replaced. I will bet I still have the same bushings. LOL. Of course, I might still have some of that good used braid that you used to throw away, as well.
