LOVED it!

You better have your A-game workin' when you race here; it's got a couple tricks up it's sleeve. After exiting the deadman and going up to the next switchback, it does a "keyhole" thing; ya gotta see it to understand what I'm saying. I drove Red, Black, Yellow and Green. My best retro Can-Am times were on Green... 5.7's. I managed 5.9's on the other lanes. Owner Bill Bethel says Yellow is the preferred lane.(hear that, Tony? YELLOW!) I found Red easier to drive than Black. The bank is punched at least down to Yellow(with a retro car). I didn't want to punch the bank on Black, so I didn't.... consciously, that is. I distracted myself once while checking the monitor.... and punched the bank on Black inadvertantly.... didn't make it! I was running JK "Big Daddy's"... they may have been narrowed a little already. Even so, I had to drive the car on a tight line... a little too much bite... if I pushed it just a tad too much, it wouldn't slide... just tilt out. Narrowing the tires a bit more may not have made it faster but it would have made it more forgiving. Not a lot of braid recess. I'm thinking a practice Retro Can-Am race in two weeks would do us all some good before the real deal on September 10th(oh yeah, Bill and Becky agreed to September 10th... I'll change the schedule). Anybody up for a practice retro Can-Am race?

Thanks to Bill and Becky for making me feel welcome! They are really nice people and have a swell facility! I exited at Azle Rd. off 820 in northwest Ft. Worth. After getting onto 199 from Azle Rd., Fat Track Race Track isn't too far down on the left AFTER you cross the lake(their sign is easily visible on the building). Go down about another mile to a traffic light. Do NOT make a U-turn directly onto 199; rather, turn left at the light, go to the feeder road and THEN make another left which will take you back to FCRT.

Hey Richard, me, Jerry, and Jerry's son, Trace, went by on friday and had a great time. The track took some getting use to and is most definitely a drivers track. I think it would be a great idea to have a practice race before the series starts and I would also like to say that the AC worked great, it was very comfortable and it's a really nice place. I know of all the hard work it takes to put a raceway together and I wish ya'll the best of luck! Thanks Bill and Becky for making us fill very welcome!

Richard, some of the Tyler guys would be interested in a practice race.

That slight little "S" going into the switchback that you mention Richard is not so bad if you can just remember it's there. But it's so subtle I had a hard time remembering.

I didn't race on it much, but I really like that track. Hopefully I can race on it again someday.
