So I will start the ball rolling...

My experience is very OLD school with most of my experience being with Parma Controllers & old Koford which I gave away to friends years ago in Leesville, LA & Fort Polk, LA (SW LA)...

I have fixed 0.5 OHM, 1.0 OHM, 1.5 OHM, 2.0 OHM & 3.0 OHM controllers & I have one digital controller & I am looking to get some more & so are my friends & my friends have the most questions so I thought that maybe you & the others might want to give some of you advice & experience...

You see Controllers was the LAST thing they & myself wanted to get really serious about & since it is getting time to hit the track it is time so now it is time for all of us to get into the MODERN AGE of Controllers!

Many digital/electronic controllers are out there for folks to consider...

Such as:

1. DiFalco (Jim)
2. Ruddock
3. 3rd Eye
4. Koford
5. Professor Motor (Andy)

Now there are many different variations like 15 & 30 bands, pro brake, chokes, variable chokes, blast relays, mush buttons, Plug In Custom Resistors etc...

Most folks would like to have ONE or two good controllers that are low cost reliable & user friendly!

Motors used will be:

Parma 16D
Parma Super16D
Parma DeathStar16D
JK Falcon 4
JK Falcon 7
JK Hawk
Pro-Slot
Kelly Bullet
TSRF D3
Slick 7

Chassis will vary but will mostly be Flexi, MTC & custom built all for Scale Racing or Retro Use or Winged Flexi Uses...

Jim DiFalco's controllers comes to the head of the list in MY mind since he is a good old Florida Boy like me & his stuff has a pretty great track record & he satnd by his products really well...BUT...There are many other folks that want to hear advice from you all so now the floor is open to all your advice, opinions, experience & suggestions...

Anything that you can say that would help folks stay in a BUDGET would be a great help!

Maybe some of the experienced folks will get something out of the many TIPS of the Day that I am sure you all can give...

Thanks for the time & any help!

get the third eye ric......... not the cheapest but not the most expensive for the basic model and does a great job, i like it better than my 30 band difalco, and better than my old scholl omni cidex.... just y opinion though

and third eye makes them as expensive or complicated as you need

The guy at 3rd eye wouldn't donate to the 2008 Nats even though he did give me an extensive lecture on Wing Racers. Thus I probably won't carry anything by him & I don't think he sells his product through Distributors like Eagle-I may be wrong as I never had anyone ask for one.
I don't know much about the JayGee,Heather,or older controllers.I would get a DiFalco 15 band if you want a wide range controller that is smooth & a 30-band if you don't care.

i have the difalco 30 band e-motion, have used the 15 band, and both are good controllers. i used this controller with my falcon 7 driven cars and it does well there. as well as with my speed fx s16d cars. i know they have different chips for these controllers, but i have only used the one that came one the controller.

i have tried the koford controller i did not like it at all for any class, but im not sure which model it was or if it was the newest model, that was 3 years ago. they may have have newer models out now.

i have 3 cidex omni controllers, i like these and they do very well for 16d death star driven cars, these are getting harder to find and dont work well with faster motors, being sensitivity of newer controllers easily surpass this controller, but does well with the slower class motors.

i have a friend here at my local track who bought the jay gee no more than a month ago, i did not like it at all, he sent it back and got a second third eye as a back up. i havent tried these myself.

i have a third eye as well, it is an excellent controller so far for everycar. it has the infinite control on brake and sensitivity, which is very nice. much smoother than the difalco. ive dropped over a tenth of a second lap times on my nastruck just by having better control through out the turns. i think this controller is the best of all worlds. it can be sensitive, it can be nonsensitive and everything inbetween.

if you come up to the garland race this month ill let you try all three styles of controllers i have.

my opinions are from racing flat tracks not king tracks or banked tracks so keep that in mind i dont know what type of track you mot commonly race on, if it not a flat track, these opinions might not be as helpful.

i have the renegade 2 @ Kyle

i drove a koford last night, it was dont know the model, but it only had a brake knob, and not a sensitivity knob or maybe vise vesra, but it actually drove quite well, it was alot better the koford i drove before, the one before had a large board like an omni with two knobs and was older, this new one had a clear case, may have been a 10-12 band at most, long trigger pull, but smooth.. @ ric

I've got a Difalco 30band , one was a ket , you can convert a parma, the other a complet ready to go, Like dean said , you can change the chip , the chip that comes on the controller is the wide range good for 7 to g12 , the other 2 chips , 1 is a lower class , handles scalextrir to falcon 7 , the other handles g12 ,g27 , myself , I use the lower 1 alot handles the falcon 7 very well , s16d , I use the wide range , But like dean said you've got to find the one that works for you , I've tried others , but I allways come back to the DIFALCO , Was the way to go for me!

on the koford i did not like the long pull of the trigger, it has a longer swing of the trigger which i guess if you get used to it doesnt natter, but mst controllers have a simular trigger pattern, and this controller lets the trigger out an extra 1/2" or so which is just "weird" but it is smooth and good for 16d and flacon 7 motors, just adding a few thoughts i got to use it again last night and paid attention to more
