There is an easy way to give people "stars" or other emblems as a reward for their post count.

Find the image or images of your choice(in this case, it's a star).

Go to:

Control Panel >> User Titles

Say that you want a person with 50 posts to have one star.

Enter the # of posts(50 in this case), and where the title would be(I have been using 'Returning Player' because my forum is all about hockey),
you will enter this:

code:
<img src="http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/5666/starvl1.gif"></img>

If you want there to be two stars, just double the code:

code:
<img src="http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/5666/starvl1.gif"></img><img src="http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/5666/starvl1.gif"></img>

If you want stars AND a title, then that can also be done!

Enter this:

code:
<img src="http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/5666/starvl1.gif"></img><br>Returning Player

The <br> will make the title appear below the stars.

If you want the stars to appear below the title, then do this:

code:
Returning Player<br><img src="http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/5666/starvl1.gif"></img>

Things should appear like this:

You can use stars, flames, smilies, multiple images, whatever works best for your forum.

I decided to go with hockey pucks for every 100 posts.
The pucks stop coming after 1,000 posts, because 10 pucks is enough for anyone.

We use a similar system on our board to reward members. being all about the Okanagan, BC. We started with 1-5 flags, then 1-4 sunshines, currently 1-4 cool shades up to 500 posts.

It's pretty wild what you can do on an Exco board, with a little time and research. There is a lot more areas which are customisable than people first think. I have come across a few boards which are so modified, you wouldn't recognise them as Exco platformed forums.

I use the story of life for mine.

You are born then go through each stage at school and then you work your way up from shop floor to be the chairman of a company.

You retire and eventually you work your way up from angel to god to gods parents, aunties and uncles.

This is my forum

I am not sure what the limit of text is, but there is a limit. You may have to combine multiple bars into 1 image for it to show properly.

We have a system where we use various small gifs for different posting levels. I think we had a maximum of 7 small images side by side, until we moved up onto the next level.

For the life of me I can't get this to work. But then again I am a rookie at this. I go to Control Panel > User Titles and enter

#Post 1 and for code I put

<img src="http://s3.excoboard.com/forums/6675/user/47974/43565.gif"><br>Rookie

Am I missing something?

Tried the string on my board and it works fine!

What are your posting ranges set at?

Example:

etc.

Could it be a typo, where nobody has reached the posting count to display this routine?

Thanks SivoxII for trying to help me.

Level 1: # Posts: 1
Level 2: # Posts: 5
Level 3: # Posts: 250
Level 4: # Posts: 500

I set Level 1 and 2 low so I could test it and it's not working. Would this apply to myself 'administrator' as well. I know I've got at least 5 posts?

Ahhhhhhhh.... Aparently user rankings do not apply to anyone with the 'administrator' title. Is this correct? I finally had a new user login and post and they got their first star.

You can apply rankings to administrator titile you go under user adminitration. Then click anyone that has the title administrator title and under custiom title you put in administrator then choose how many images you want. You can do the same for Moderator and Super Moderator

I have members that have chosen titles. I tried to put stars under their titles but there is only room for one star. How can I get at least 5 stars like say under Popcorn Monster? Do I have to put the code in 5 times to get 5 stars to show up? Is there a better way since the code will not go in twice and show the title. Thanks
