Posted December 2nd, 2009 03:45 PM IP Okay, I've tried multiple search engines searching the name of my new board, never shows up? Would it ever show up when I search the web? Not much of a "online" person.

Posted December 3rd, 2009 07:27 AM IP It usually takes about two weeks. It takes a lot longer if you have ads turned off. Excoboard Terms of Service

Posted December 15th, 2009 12:18 PM IP It has been over 2 weeks since the creation of the board. When you search the title of the board it brings you to this..
"Excoboard.com - Free messsage board host
Skillers of Diversity. A Runescape Skilling Clan. Baking Kittens. Tasty... north east whippets ... THE KINGDOM OF SKILLERS. A RuneScape skilling clan. STRAIGHT ..."
When I have someone search it, I don't want someone to see "Baking Kittens. Tasty" That is quite disturbing honestly.
Mod 1: I'm not really sure how to use any of that. Mind a little tutorial?

Posted December 15th, 2009 12:34 PM IP The google engine bases its information about what is posted on your board. Maybe it is confused with something. Excoboard Terms of Service

Posted December 18th, 2009 04:38 PM IP SEO is a big game, where anything that's relevant as a "live" web page, will be picked up by the major search engines at some point. Ideally, if you are serious about your forum/site, you should register a domain, as Search Engines love to Bot sites which end in ****.com etc. Beyond that, there are a lot of factors, namely visible text content and regular updates.
Remember, everybody wants to be on the 1st page of Google, Yahoo, MSN etc, so it's like squeezing 5,000 pees into a matchbox.
Hope that helps.

Posted December 20th, 2009 05:16 PM IP Well, I don't really mind it being at the top. Just easier to search. Unfortunately, when you search the name of the board it has names of the other board names that were registered near the same time.. One board name is baking kittens. That would most likely make whoever was interested leave..

Posted December 23rd, 2009 08:12 PM IP If you are serious about your board, purchase a domain (*.com) and have it forward to your Excoboard. Ideally, if you are in business, you would look at hosting too!!
Search Engines have FAR MORE of an appetite if your site/forum is professionally represented/structured.

Actually, Google doesn't give preferential treatment if you have Ad Sense on your board. It's not there policy to do so, nor will it ever be.
The best way to get your board indexed on a daily basis is keep it open so the search engine spiders can crawl it.
If your board requires a login. the only thing that a spider will index is the board meta title and description. Make sure you use meta description and title tags, if you insist on requiring a log in. At very least, search engines will index these tidbits of info.
Here's the meta tag codes you should drop onto your board, just below the <head> tag.
<title>title you want indexed in Google-MSN-Yahoo</title>
<description>Give a short 10 word accurate description of your site here</description>
