Log into your control panel. Go to Feature Settings, uncheck require log-in.

If you will take a look at some of the boards in the "Show Off" forum it may give you some ideas...

You should spend more time for searching and learning. Follow which forum you think is the best, and try to figure out the way to do better or exactly the same to them

Hi and welcome to exco 
Well, your board is about chess, so I would suggest you maybe change the colour scheme to colours associated with chess and google for some graphics that you can use instead of the usual buttons etc, logo, banner etc. Just make sure that you are not infringing copyrites.
