I was in Birmingham, Alabama over the weekend working on a concert video for Brad Paisley (great show by the way), and I did my own little un-scientific poll of Crimson Tide fans. And none of them have ever heard of San Jose State. I asked 10 people at random who were sporting Alabama gear what they thought about the upcoming game to start off the 2010 season vs our Spartans. Two of the ten thought it was against San Diego State, while all of them had no idea who the Spartans are.
But the people down there were very friendly and helpful. And the airport is close to the I-20/State Hwy. 59, which is a direct 52 mile shot to Tuscaloosa home of the University of Alabama.
Hopefully the SJS Spartans will play well enough that they'll know who we are when the game is over.
