Posted 02-02-10 10:16 AM IP Need to know how many SJSU Fans would be interested in a package including Air, Hotel, Tour, etc to Alabama Game this Fall. In process of getting a charter quote with aircraft leaving on Thursday before the game and returning Sat night right after the game. Will have some prices in another week or so. A preliminary requests for interest will be made at the meeting Feb 3rd --Letter of intent. Always a Spartan!

Posted 02-02-10 06:30 PM IP The Sainte Claire Club of San Jose is putting together a package of air, rail and hotel accomodations for a package including Alabama AND Wisconsin. A good deal of "play time" in New Orleans is included. Chartering an entire plane is ambitious but exciting. Hope it works. Illigitimi non carborundum

Posted 02-02-10 07:21 PM IP I checked Obitz last week and they have R/T flights to Birmingham out of San Jose on about four carriers. All were around $350. Where to bunk down is important. An alum in Arkansas paid for a tailgate spot for the SJS Rat Line last September. We are mailing at the end of this week our most current "Rat List" directory with a report from that scouting trip by three Spartans to Bryant-Denny Stadium.
A Tuscaloosa sportswriter told me (before MacIntyre was hired) to allow an hour to drive from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa on game day.

Posted 02-04-10 04:49 PM IP Hey I better get a copy of the Rat Line---did you do a T shirt this year? This is Tom Hood. I was thinking about a charter leaving SF on Thur prior and returning right after the game. Charters generally run more than a scheduled fare; however, the plane would be rocking with Spartan boosters. Plus free drinks etc. Peat Travel Group is working on some prices for me. I use to work in the Charter biz so know how much fun they are. I will keep you posted Just got a letter from Jim Hood. Tom Always a Spartan!

Posted 02-16-10 02:29 PM IP Hood: We'll probably do a T-shirt or hat for this season. By now most of our recent donors are receiving their 24-page "SJS Rat LIST" directory with a four-page, heavy-stock cover in color. Coach "Mac" is the cover subject surrounded by photos of stadium of his "Wild 2010 Road Trip".

RE: The travel distance. I was in Birmingham less than 2 weeks ago. And it's approx. 55 miles from the airport to Tuscaloosa. So you'll want to give it more than an hour to drive it on game day. I'm sure they'll be lots of traffic on that freeway. The good thing is that it's a direct shot on the I-20/State Hwy. 59 which is real close to the Birmingham airport. *I'd give it at least 90 minutes just to be on the safe side.
(Edited by Crixus) Go Spartans!
