Posted March 26th, 2008 04:51 AM IP You guessed it. Share some of your custom stages here, and perhaps we can get a general interest going here and swap some stages. I'll explain some of mine (ahem):
Stage: "Shrooms 'n s&$*"
Description: Stoner Level
Music: Forest of hope
Stage description: Well, the description above pretty much says it all. This is a stage made up of floating mushrooms, floating trees, and a few moving platforms.
The good: It's a funny stage, if you find drug jokes funny.
The bad: Overall, the level is kinda meh. Also, recovering onto the mushrooms is a bit difficult.
The ugly: I can't find any better stoner music than "Forest of hope."
Right, moving on...
Stage: "Block of life"
Description: Fight over it!
Music: King K. Rool battle
Stage description: Since SSBM, I always wanted to make a stage consisting of a single block, just to see what would happen. Well, the stage builder doesn't give you that option for some reason, but I found a decent alternative. I put in the token block, and beneath it are unstable platforms (the ones that plummet downward when stood upon). Therefore, the block above those is the only stable part of the level, and therefore is the "block of life."
The good: Actually, while this level seems gimmicky, it's fun in a crazy sort of way. The fighters don't die as fast as you would expect them to; a two stock battle with four participants typically takes me two minutes. The battle to stay on the "block of life" is an entirely new smash experience.
The bad: This stage isn't for everybody. If you need your space to fight well, I wouldn't recommend it. Also, some characters may have a more difficult time than others.
Rejected name for this stage: "King of the block"
Stage: "STONED BUT FUN"
Description: "awesome"
Music: Theme of Samus Aran
Stage description: OK, this is not my level, nor does the name of the stage have anything to do with the level itself, but I figure I'll add it anyway, because it's a halfway decent stage. (A buddy of mine made this, and no, I don't know what's up with the name.) This is almost three stages in one, and it's enormous, so trying to give you guys a visual is going to be tough. The top of the stage has slopes, ice, and spikes, with the spikes being on either side of the platform. The top area forms a pyramid shape, and under it is an area closed off by thin platforms, dubbed "the fighting room." In this room, it's impossible to die, so to KO anybody, someone has to leave. Under this enclosed area is another pyramid shape that is almost entirely closed off itself, but a hard hit can send someone flying out. There are platforms on either side of it, and under that is an ice arena, hiding an alcove at the top. Let's just say this stage is home to lots of hiding places.
The good: This stage requires more strategy to win than simply beating the crap out of your opponent. Luring the competition to certain areas is key here.
The bad: The fighting room, while innovative, can foil things for some. People with high damage percents can simply hide and take an infinite amount of damage.
The ugly: You guessed it, the "fighting room." This can be fun and a hindrance, but the main idea is that as long as competitors are in it, the match can't really go anywhere. This is not a problem in time matches, as cowardly fighters will eventually realize that no points can be scored in there, and it's actually fun in coin matches. In stock, once again, finding ways to lure your opponent can decide the winner of a match.
Ugly 2: Play this stage among fellow humans. As with any stage with spikes in it, computers aren't very bright here. The more fighters on this stage, the better.
More in next post, because I don't know how much text can fit in one post. We hold beliefs as a consolation

A refuge for the coming night

Posted March 26th, 2008 05:49 AM IP The Ring
(no description)
Music: Live & Learn
It was as close to a pro wrestling ring as I could make it. It has the entry corridor on the far right, with a staircase down, a short landing a ramp up to a platform that's supposed to be the ring, a ramp down, and a wall on the far left. The ring would have been wider but I didn't have room.
King of the Mountain
(no description)
Music: Mario Bros.
Very simple: it's just a giant mountain for you to play King of the Mountain on. Wonder Woman wins. HEROIC BRUTALITY.

Posted March 26th, 2008 05:58 AM IP Stage: "The box"
Description: FIGHT TO THE DEATH!!
Music: Tetris type A
Stage description: Ok, this is where it gets really crazy. I'm sure some of you have already made a stage like this - This is a stage made up of a giant square that you fight inside of. The catch? At the top, there is a small hole, and the only way to KO anybody is to hit them through it. Typically, fighters can hit about 5-600 damage before anyone bites it. The battle actually starts on top of the box, so you'll need to jump down into it. If you do this, CPU players will follow you.
The good: If you haven't played a stage like this yet, I highly recommend it, because it is insanely fun. You can hit someone, they go flying at 40,000 mph, and yet, they live and the battle goes on. This is yet another example of a fight that requires more strategy than normal. Unleashing final smashes inside the box has hilarious potential, especially when opponents have 500+ damage.
The bad: Some items can get stuck on top of the box, most commonly smash balls. Sometimes, however, they make their way in. The smash balls here can be very elusive.
The ugly: Once in the box, it is possible to reach the top without dying a number of ways. In a stock match, staying atop the box can be irritating to other players - however, there is a downside. Let's just say only the gutsiest player would keep themselves atop the level with an opponent if they had very high damage.
Note: When playing this stage, I recommend doing only short stock matches, or long time matches (not counting coin battles, of course). I usually play one stock, and the longest one stock game on this stage I've seen (between four opponents) went on for fifteen minutes. Just a heads up, something like five stock on this stage is only a good idea if you're going to be marathon playing.
Stage name: "something"
Description: lol
Music: Super Mario World
Stage description: This is another level with mushrooms and trees (are you starting to sense a reoccuring theme in my stages?), but this one is a little more thought out. At the top of the level are four hovering trees, and below that are two layers of thin platforms. Below the thin platforms is an abundance of mushrooms.
The good: It's fun. The trees at the top can prevent someone from being KO'd.
The bad: It isn't like you're gonna be staying up all night playing this stage.
Well, I have a few more, but I won't even bother explaining them, because they're inside jokes. You guys share a few now.

(no description)
Music: Excite Truck
Springboards all along the bottom, four tiny platforms way at the top in the middle ('cause they required entry platforms). In each of the four corners is a vertically oscillating platform, and where each of them stops closest to the middle a horizontally oscillating platform starts in the square next to it.
The Joust
Music: Brinstar Depths
Two tiny platforms at the bottom on each side, and on each side a ladder going WAAAYYY up to reach a platform that stretches across most of the screen.
The REAL Joust!
Music: Airship Theme (SMB3)
Spikes all along the bottom. A tiny platform on each side next to a tall pedestal. Next to each pedestal are horizontally oscillating platforms, which meet in the middle. Wonder Woman wins. HEROIC BRUTALITY.

Posted April 14th, 2008 12:47 AM IP Here's a new one by yours truly:
Name: (Name omitted seeing as I made this one with two friends while we were in a really goofy mood)
Description: (Also omitted >_>)
Music: Wii shop channel
Stage description: A small stage; it's basic, yet fun. On either side of the level are two rotating wheel thingies, which are met by two vertically moving platforms in the center. At the top right is a tree, and at the bottom right are... mushrooms. >_> left of those are spikes.
It's pretty funny to watch the computers on this level. If you hit them off the left side, they usually end up falling to their doom instead of landing on the spikes. We hold beliefs as a consolation

Posted April 19th, 2008 05:20 AM IP OK, I'm too lazy to type up a fancy description, so I'll half-*** it instead
I drew up and made a stage called "Meteor challenge." Picture this: take my box stage, only smaller and with a big gap in the bottom instead of a small gap in the top. At the top of the stage are dropping platforms, and once in the box part of the stage, you're mostly sealed in. On either side of the gap are diagonal platforms that are tipped towards the center, and there is a single horizontal moving platform below the gap for the sole purpose of potentially saving your butt if you get smashed. In this stage, meteor smashing isn't the only way to get a KO, but it's the fastest way. We hold beliefs as a consolation

NOTE: with the new pits in place, you cannot grab the edge and recover! better be careful here or lose a stock. And its good to have a character that can wall-jump. Posted June 30th, 2008 09:10 PM IP While I'm here, I'll post my latest ones. Namely, four that I made a week ago from the top of my head.
1. Moving Platform 1
This is a small stage that I would've comprised entirely out of scrolling platforms, but the game wouldn't let me do it. (You need at least four stationary places for fighters to spawn...) So, I put in four vanishing blocks toward the bottom for this purpose; they can also serve as catchers if you fall. This isn't the easiest stage, but then again, it isn't meant to be. Music: White Land
2. Moving Platform 2
Like Moving Platform 1, but a medium sized stage. Instead of having minimal space like 1, two has horizontal-scrolling platforms littering the playing field. The four vanishing spawn platforms are in the middle of this one, so your ability to land on moving platforms better be up to par. Music: Fire Field
3. Spring Tower
Spring Tower is, as the name suggests, a tower. At the top of the tower, it is possible to drop through the center and fall all the way through the hollowed out middle to reach the springs at the bottom. In this chamber, aerial combat is king. It is possible to jump out of this area at any time. If air fighting isn't your forte, there are also diagonal platforms extending down from both sides of the tower. Finally, if you fall off the side of the tower, you aren't doomed if you have some skill. Single pieces of ladder are at the bottom, and you can use these to get back in the fight through the bottom of the tower. Music: Gourmet Race
4. 24 1/2m
In this stage, I attempted to replicate 25m from Donkey Kong, but quickly found that it couldn't be done with the space given. Instead, I did the best I could, and thus I present 24 1/2m. Music: 25m BGM
There are my most recent four... and here's one more, one of my favorites, since I realize I haven't mentioned this one here yet.
Ultimate Battlefield
Ok, think of the Battlefield - A main platform, and three drop-through platforms above it. Now, take a main platform, add eight thin platforms - one for each 45 degree angle of the mainland - and you have the Ultimate Battlefield. Or, if you prefer a dumbed-down description, picture a large thick platform surrounded by 8 thin platforms on each side. I would make a picture, but this board doesn't care much for ASCII art. Music: Battlefield (Why not Battlefield v2? Because I like the battlefield music better. :P) We hold beliefs as a consolation
A way to take us out of ourselves
Meditation or medication
A comfort or a promised reward
Sometimes the spirit is too strong or the flesh is too weak
Sometimes the need is just too great for the solace we seek
The suit of shining armor becomes a keen and bloody sword

Posted July 14th, 2008 05:29 PM IP Do we gotta have each other's Wii codes? 'Cause I wanna play some of these stages y'all have... Well, mine's in the Wii code list and in my challenge topic on the Brawl forum, if any of y'all wanna share. For it is not enough to have a good mind: one must use it well. -René Descartes

Posted July 25th, 2008 11:04 PM IP The Crystal Prison has been built! we are vacant of course and welcome all, lol. This is a very nice prison stage of mine that even sports Pillars and lots of those pretty ice blocks as well. I have been experimenting with trapping stages for a while now and trying new designs all the time.
Let me know if you want this stage. **Check the Custom Stage topic if you want any of my stages**.
