Hmm... EB, I'm not sure if your sister could enter if she's not on the forum or not. Or would she be able to join? I'm not sure. Should Cowpokey D. provide the rules?

That's a cool idea, Twister! Even though a prize would be nice, it would be incredibly special to have the winning poem, song, or essay posted at the museum, if the RR-DE museum would approve it.

I'm not sure how judging would go on un-related entries. For instance, how would you judge an essay against a picture...or a poem against an essay. I'll leave it up to all of you...make a choice of a compatible item and then we can fine-tune this deal One other thought...let's keep it simple so everyone can have fun, eh?
I wish some of the Vintage-Timers would get in on this!!

1st things 1st - how many are interested?
Now, after thinking for a few moments on this, let's only have the younger rmembers be involved. So, where does the line get drawn? Who are the senior youngsters? WOW...what a question. If yo'all can figure that one out, let me know...HehHeh!!
18? 21? Help me out here, Guys!!

Hmm... are there any members between 18 and 21 who would be wanting to join? *wonders*

[raises hand] I'm interested! I'll join.
I guess we might have the age range be 13-25 or so, but I don't want others to feel left out. We definitely should find out who is interested first.
Also, we should set up a poll with three choices for the contest: essay, poem, drawing (as in picture). Whichever gets the most votes will be the first contest. The others can be for later contests.
Sure would help if all the "whippersnappers" (to use one of Gabby's terms) would weigh in with their opinions!
Leah, maybe you and I should PM some of the other young members to let them know what's going on and to see if they're interested. What do you think?

I like that idea, BBC. After all, we want to make sure that everyone knows about it so they can join.

My sister CANNOT join the mb, but I would be willing to let her take my place. I wouldn't compeate at all if she can. Maybe I should post her art on the mb?

Howdy all. I was wondering what happened with the idea for the writing contest?

Also, is there any interest in setting a new record for the most members on line?

Well, we had a poem writing contest first and several submitted entries. CowboyFan was the winner.
A new writing contest is in the works. Stay tuned.

We all talked about it and many are for it. We've missed you since the 25th of July.

I do not remember the first in registered for the message board. But this the third time I have registered. I visit often but I seldom have posted a reply. I will try and do better. I had a great time at the 5th roundup.

Time does have a way of slipping by. I hadn't realized it had been that long.
The record of most members on line was 24 on October 16, 2007. I guess there was a question above as to whether that was during that day (24 hour period) or all logged on the MB at the same time at some point during that day.
Perhaps the Administrator could hop in here and clarify that.
Then members could set a day (and time if needed) to log on. I think that would be a nice record to break.

I am new to this board but have been a longtime follower of Roy and Dale and family. I used to be on the message board many years ago but due to a severe accident, I lost touch. Then they moved. But here I am again and looking forward to reading your emails. My husband and I went to the Roundup, it was his first time and he was very impressed with what he saw and heard. Happy trails to you all!

Hi Mollkate,
I'm just curious... do you mind telling us what your original user name was? Since I've been here from the MB's beginning in 2001, I'll probably recognize it.

It really would. I'm free almost anytime. And if it's a time period, I'm sure I could hop on for 5 minutes!

I wonder how many "guests" are actually members that are just reading and not posting.

I think Triggerjim is right about the "guests." I am "guilty" of doing that. I usually check out the MB just about everyday, but only sign on when I am going to post. So that might be me standing over there in the shadows...

It would be neat to send in the New Year with a bang and have everyone log on sometime during NYD if possible...

I want to chime in and wish friends old and new a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Life has been too hectic this fall. I have only had brief moments to check the Message Board and feel sad that is all the time I can find. Maybe I can slow down with work before long and enjoy the real pleasures....such as this forum. I thought I would get an entry done for the contest...but didn't happen.
Everyone stay well and may God continue to bless all of you!

I think that would be really great to do. I know I will try to log in and post on NYD. Maybe we could even set a new record! At least we could try....

I'd like to try, too. It'd be fun to set a new record.
I can't promise I'll be on, but I'll sure try.
