Hey, does anyone have a list of all the songs Dale wrote? I know she wrote many...but the only ones I can remember are "Aha San Antone", "The Bible Tells Me So", "Hazy Mountains", and "Happy Trails", of course. I also know she wrote "My Heart Went That-A-Way with Roy. But she wrote a ton more songs than that...does anyone have the titles?
May God keep you smilin' down a million happy trails!

Oops--one more question. Does anyone know if Dale wrote "May the Good Lord Take A Liking To Ya" or if Roy wrote it or if they co-wrote it? I've heard rumors pertaining to all three of those ideas!!
May God keep you smilin' down a million happy trails!

Actually, she wrote 55 songs herself, 10 with others and 7 with Roy...perhaps there are more, too.

I would imagine in most places when the song "Happy Trails" is mentioned, Dale Evans name immediately enters the mind. Listening to her and RR sing this song together, My heart sings with Joy!

As for other songs Dale wrote, I think she wrote "Will You Marry Me, Mr. Laramie?" When she would sing to to the soldiers, she picked one of them out and would sing that song to him.

I was able to dig up some more songs that Dale wrote: "My Heart Is Down Texas Way" (her first time reording with the Sons of the Pioneers was this song), "Just a Tear of Regret" (her first copyrighted song [1928], which she wrote when she was 16 as her first marriage ended with Tom Fox), and "Chicki Wicki Choctaw" (which she wrote for Dodie for their 1953 Hawaii tour).
There's a funny story attached to "Will You Marry Me, Mr. Laramie?" in The Answer Is God, p. 81, that I thought I would share with everyone.
Excerpt: "Dale usually did her 'Will You Marry Me, Mr. Laramie?' for the boys, and they loved it, especially when she asked one of them to stooge for her as Ray Bolger had done. But one day she got hold of a captain who evidently had left his sense of humor at home. All through the song he stared at Dale, puzzled. When she had finished, he leaned over and whispered, righteously, 'I'm sorry, lady, I guess you think I'm single, but I'm not. I've got a wife and five kids back in Georgia.'"

That story's funny, Birchbarkcowgirl! "My Heart Down Texas Way" sound like a really neat song.

Here's a song that was written about Dale Evans.

"Thank Heavens For Dale Evans"
written by:Martie Erwin, Robin Lynn Macy and Lisa Brandenburg

I grew up on Bob Wills and daydreams
My toes were a-tappin' to western swing
I wished upon a star
Atop an old boxcar
Chasing rainbows to the place the bluebirds sing
I painted my eyes up like Dolly
Sang with Kitty Wells 'til momma screamed
Then daddy shook his head as he carried me to bed
And tucked me in a-beggin' me to sing:

Thank Heavens for Dale Evans
You're everything I ever want to be
Yodel-lay-ee, Yodel-lay-ee
Yodel-lay-ee
Dale Evans made a cowgirl out of me

Now I play my guitar with the cowgirls
And what I got they never bat an eye
Like Shirley Temple's curls
Thank heavens for the girls
We'll sing a song to make a cowboy cry
I never got the limo or the diamond
But I got my hat, my boots and my guitar
I'm proud enough to say
I'll always be this way
Like the girl who went and stole Roy Rogers' heart

Is it on a disk or something?
Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright that God may love thee. Speak the truth even if it leads you to your death. Safeguard the helpless. That is your oath. (strikes him across the face) That is how you shall remember it. Rise a knight!
Knighting out of Kingdom of Heaven

You will listen to me. Listen! The Bretheren will still be looking to us, the Black Pearl, to lead. And what will they see? Frightened bilge rats aboard a derelict ship? No! No, they will see free men and freedom! And what the enemy will see is the flash of our cannons! They will hear the ring of our swords and they will know what we can do. By the sweat of our brows, and the strength of our backs, and the courage of our hearts. Gentlemen, hoist the colors.

Well, you're welcome. The lyrics are definitely in a different style but very good, nonetheless.
