I really like the This Is Your Life Show that features Roy Rogers. It is very touching when Roy has to wipe away his tears.

I thought that was a wonderful show also. He was really surprised that night. You could really tell. His humble side was very evident. A person could not help but respect him.

The IMDb website says that the episode with Roy and Dale on it aired on January 14, 1953. I remember that they mentioned his most recent film on it: Son of Paleface. Yes, Roy sang Tumbling Tumbleweeds with the Sons of the Pioneers. It was an excellent performance.

This episode is available on disc 1 of the DVD set "This is Your Life the Ultimate Collection" Vol. 1. Milton Berle, Johnny Cash, and Shirley Jones are in this set also.

Have you seen the Happy Trails Wraparound where he and Dale discuss that? It's a WONDERFUL wraparound--it's for San Fernando Valley. If you haven't seen it, you SHOULD!!!

Ralph Edwards was quoted once as saying that the Roy Rogers episode of This Is Your Life was the most popular one he'd ever done.

A MB Member sent me a copy of this program years ago...and I still have great admiration and Thanks for this person taking the time to send me the tape. In CA (Los Angeles)...wandering around one trip, I was wandering in Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (stayed at Beverly Hills Hotel)...I went on several halls open to public and I came upon a b/w pic of RR/DE/Family from this program hanging on a wall....I was thrilled at my "find"!

I saw it on the HTT wraparound like RRS mentioned. It was really good! For some reason though I thought it happened in the 60's/70's, but I guess not.

Carolyn: RR was very humble on that program and when watching, just by looking at clothes and hairstyle of women, it is very noted that is took place early 50's.

This Is Your Life was originally filmed in the '50's. 1953 to be exact.

I always wished that another program of "This Is Your Life" had been done in the later years of the life of RR.....one that lasted longer than 30 minutes. It would have been grand!

IMO, It is the greatest! Many trips West, when the wind is blowing, you can see the Tumbling Tumbleweeds and when you see them, what comes to mind instantly? Yes, "The Song"!

Have you read the book "A Salute To Sandy"? I think DE, did great justice to Sandy/the military/and abused children in this book! Her books, always, were written from the heart.

Roy was also honored on a later This Is Your Life.
I remember them especially talking about Debbie passing away.
I was very young but I do remember that show. But don't
remember the date.

I would too like to get my hands on a copy of that one. Is there a website for the reruns of This Is Your Life? The only ones I remember is with Roy Rogers being on and then ofcourse Lassie.

Roy's 6th Grade teacher, Guy Baumgartner, was on the 1953 program. Roy always gave credit to this man as the one who "...made education fun. and the patience and ability to make me aware of the importance of learning..."
I have never heard that there was a later segment of "This Is Your Life." It would be interesting to see that.
