I'm looking for shows with guest appearances by Roy & Dale.

I have their Muppet Show appearance (a personal favorite of mine), and the Dean Martin Show DVDs (special edition & volume #4) that has their skits. I've also seen clips of their appearances on the Milton Berle Show and the Perry Como Show.

Has anyone seen their appearances on Hee-Haw or Hollywood Palace? Are they worth buying? I would love to see them on the Andy Williams show, but I don't know if it's even available.

So if you have any recommendations, or personal favorites, let me know.

- Kelly

I just noticed that CMT.com has a video of Roy and Dale singing with Barbara Mandrell and her sisters from an appearance on "the Barbara Mandrell Show."

I have so many of their appearances on tv since around 1980 when I bought my first VCR. I recorded them in SP for best quality and recently put them on DVD. I have both Fall Guys, complete Mandrells and more. I have Roy on People Are Talking from 1983 where he was interviewed for an hour and I was also in the audience, where I spoke to Roy. I had a friend tape it for me on tv.

I so wish I had taped thru the years all the many special shows they were on...but, like so many others, I did not. I can remember them being on many Specials and they were all very good. It would be hard to say which show was the "best" when they were all "The Best"!

Drifting Gunfighter, I'm glad that you mentioned that because I just saw that RR & DE were on the Mandrells DVD just yesterday. Unfortunately, I keep getting a "network failure" when the clip is about to play, although I have no problem watching their commercials and other promos leading up to the clip. I'll keep trying.

friscolbo, check your PM

I missed most of their appearances the first time around, since I hadn't been born yet, lol. Though I do remember that I loved to watch Happy Trails Theater when I was about 5 - 6 years old even though I don't think that I really knew "who" they were. I just knew that I liked them.

Dave, thanks so much for the list!

I just saw Andy Williams in concert last night, and was browsing his gift shop. He only had one DVD with clips from The Andy Williams Show, which didn't include Roy & Dale Hopefully in the future he'll release clips of their appearance. I'd love to see them on the Red Skelton Show as well, and with Jimmy Durante, too - great list!

Just highlight the list, hold down the "Ctrl" key and type "C" then "X." Open up a "blank word processor document" in Microsoft Works, or similar program, and hold down the "Ctrl" key and type "V"

The 1970 appearance on the Don Knotts Show was a new one to me. I'll bet that was a great episode.
The above list doesn't show the 1979 (Roy and Dale) and 1986 (Dale) appearances on the PTL Club.

Yeah, that's the trouble of being the younger generation!
Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright that God may love thee. Speak the truth even if it leads you to your death. Safeguard the helpless. That is your oath. (strikes him across the face) That is how you shall remember it. Rise a knight!

You will listen to me. Listen! The Bretheren will still be looking to us, the Black Pearl, to lead. And what will they see? Frightened bilge rats aboard a derelict ship? No! No, they will see free men and freedom! And what the enemy will see is the flash of our cannons! They will hear the ring of our swords and they will know what we can do. Well, it is a disappointment, yes, but I think it makes it even more specialer when I find them on DVD. Btw, does anyone know what years/season of Wonder Woman Mr. Rogers appeared on? Thanks!

I have come to the conclusion that Roy and Dale were SO popular and they made SO many public appearances that we will probably never know for sure just how many times they were on stage and in front of people.
I'm being surprised almost every day or so of a new listing of a place they appeared that I didn't know about. And I've been following their movies, music and family-life for almost 58 years.
Kind of makes the performers of today look a little bit insignificant, eh?

Good thought, Mr. Cowpokey D! I mean, sure some of them are popular, or "famous", but their fame doesn't really ever last as long as Mr. and Mrs. Rogers has!

I think that's cuz Roy and Dale weren't just performers...there was something else and no one has ever forgotten that.

You're both correct in your thoughts...I'd be among the first to recognize that factor.
There was something else, though. Now, how can I express this? Roy and Dale were the type of people and had the quality of personality that carried them much further than most star-quality folks.
Take for instance what Art Rush was quoted saying when he came upon Roy after hearing of the passing of Arline. Art found Roy outside the hospital crying and yet he was signing autographs for children. Roy and Dale had a God-given charisma that showed through their lives prior to becoming Christians themselves. They traveled on separate trails, obviously, and were very popular. Then when they were married and joined trails, they became even more popular. They clearly defined their character and their outlook of life finally when they became Christians.
I guess what I'm trying to say is God was directing them into areas of influence long before they recognized that personally.

I just reviewed the most recent acquistion from eBay...it is a VHS tape of when Roy and Dale appeared on the Perry Como Show..1957 according to ADave's list.
Roy, Dale and Trigger JR were the guests. In fact, Perry introduced them, as Roy and Trigger, as they were seated in the back of the audience. Roy then got into the saddle and rode Trigger JR up the aisle onto the stage.
I was able to recognize several of the hand signals Roy used to indicate to Junior to do whatever trick was next.
However, what was really fascinating was how narrow the aisle was that Roy rode up and how close Trigger JR was to the aisle seats (with people in them)...that really shows how well disciplined Trigger JR was.
If anyone gets a chance to collect a copy of this event, please do!! It's great!!

Thanks for the info.... I know when I have my horses in parades or Justin's pony in performances I get nervous. People surrounded Prairie Rose last 4th of July... I mean that poor pony could breathe... I take that back she could and she stole a lick off of a little girls ice cream cone... OOPS! But I was nervous. Because one never knows. She did really well, (except for the ice cream) But that was only a few hundred people (probably only 50 people were crowded around her. )

Trigger & Trigger Jr. were amoung thousands of people and in hospitals they were amazing horses.

That would have been amazing. I think it's kinda funny that Prarie Rose took a lick of a kid's icecream cone!!!
Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright that God may love thee. Speak the truth even if it leads you to your death. Safeguard the helpless. That is your oath. (strikes him across the face) That is how you shall remember it. Rise a knight!
Knighting out of Kingdom of Heaven

You will listen to me. Listen! The Bretheren will still be looking to us, the Black Pearl, to lead. And what will they see? Frightened bilge rats aboard a derelict ship? No! No, they will see free men and freedom! And what the enemy will see is the flash of our cannons! They will hear the ring of our swords and they will know what we can do. By the sweat of our brows, and the strength of our backs, and the courage of our hearts. Gentlemen, hoist the colors.

Yes and fortunately one of Prairie's "body guards" saw it, because the dad didn't (he was peeling one of his little kids off of PR back leg.) She left him know right before his little girl took a lick... hee hee... It was quite comical... I wonder if any of the Triggers ever did anything like that? Can you image all the noise and commotion of people/children surging forward to meet RR & Trigger. The Triggers were truly amazing horses.
