Posted July 9th, 2007 01:05 PM IP Now, yes. Toronto is bad for crime.
Up in the Klondike, during the Gold Rush, we didn't even have saloons, and there was no murders, thefts, or any crime up in the Klondike when the RCMP was in control, but on the other side of the border there was crime. The RCMP wouldn't let in anybody who had guns, was of a bad reputation or anything like that. Of course there's bad guys now-our world wasn't like it is then. 'Weep not but think that I have past

Posted July 9th, 2007 01:09 PM IP I guess Super Safe is a good way of describing it! At first I wasn't too proud of the Canadian west-I thought it was sort of boring, but now, after reading that book by Mr. Berton, I'm really proud of what the RCMP did.
An interesting piece of trivia: The term Mounties was invented in the movies, and the real RCMP don't like it. More trivia: The RCMP rarely had to pull their guns. They were very respected. 'Weep not but think that I have past

Posted July 9th, 2007 01:12 PM IP I knew that last bit about the RCMP not having to pull their guns. HEY!!! I just had a great idea for a story. How about you have someone impersonate a RCMP officer? Now THAT would be a wild story! And you could have Roy find the real officer injured, and take off after the BG. May God keep you smilin' down a million happy trails!

Posted July 10th, 2007 09:18 AM IP Here is my script. My mom changed the names except she left RR & DE name for now.
“I dream of Roy Rogers”
Written by: Jerry Smith
Suggestions by: Mom, Frances, Daniel & Cami, Krista, Alyssa, Christa, Brianne, Rose & Stephanie etc
Rough Draft
SCENE #1
Shows kids making a western movie. Shootouts and dialog by: Daniel, Cami, Stephanie, Jerry, and Marcos.
Scene# 2
Hear Jerry’s dialog while camera films below: “Hi, my name is Jerry. I remember when my friends come over to lay this summer. We watched Roy Rogers moves and then we were pretend we were in on of his movies. In fact we made some of our own movies. Right now I am watching one.
This once we had a campfire and my grandpa told a story of when he met Roy Rogers. Well I’ll just let you watch our movie. It tells all about it.”
See Jerry and kids doing chores. Feeding dogs, cats, steers, chickens, and horses.
Mom: “Boys, go collect some firewood for your dad. We will be cooking supper over the fire tonight. How do hotdogs, beans, and smores for dessert sound?
Boys: “GREAT! Can we have the neighbors over?
Mom: Sure I do not see why not. Just double check with your dad.” See boys running off in the direction of their dad on the tractor.
SCENE #3
Parents clean up leftovers and head to house as Grandpa sits down by the campfire with the kids.
Christa and Brianne tell a campfire story. Carlie and Marcos giggle.
Carlie: “Do not make it too scary, Jerry might get scared.”
Everyone laughs.
Jerry & Macy start talking about the Roy Rogers’ TV show. Then Jerry turns to Grandpa.
Jerry: “Grandpa, you said that you met Roy Rogers one time. I wish we could have met him!” The group of kids agrees.
*** Camera scans the crowd and focus on each person as they talk. Then focuses on Grandpa as he starts to tell the story.*****
SCENE#4
Grandpa: “Well when I was about your age our ranch and the neighbors ranches were having a hard time of it with cattle rustlers. The Smith, Brocks and our ranch had been hit but not like the other ranches North of town.”
“Our pa’s decided to round up their cattle and move them to the pasture just west of our house. This would make it easier to protect the cattle from the rustlers. Then our Pa’s joined the local sheriff and formed a posse to look for the rustlers.“
***Camera scans crowd… kids lean back on hay bales and camera focuses on campfire then fades.
“This campfire reminds me of that time. The neighbor boys & I would sit around the campfire at night, sing and tell stories while we watched the cattle.”
SCENE #5
**Camera fades in on the campfire as the sound of gunshots, milling cattle and shouts then focuses on boys (back in time) jumping up from campfire****
Jerry: “Hurry, grab the guns it is the cattle rustlers!”
Caleb yanks on his boots and fumbles for the gun. Chase is running in the direction of the corral shooting in the air trying to turn the cattle away from the open gait. Boys run behind log for cover…
Dust fills the air and the sound of shouts and gunfire…
***Camera fades out … fade back in to blackened campfire and morning sun… turns camera toward sound of horses. ***
Jerry and Matthew are mounting up. Caleb, Chase & Christa are holding the reins to their mounts.
Jerry: “Caleb you and Chase head North. See if you can find any tracks. Matthew and I will head West. If you find any tracks shoot twice. We will meet up.
**Camera cuts out of Christa, Caleb & Chase mounting. The camera pans around to see Jerry & Matthew riding off. ***
SCENE #6
**See J tracking on trail… camera cuts to M also tracking in field. Cut in to boys riding toward each other on trail. They turn to talk and look over toward sound of hoof beats approaching. .
Jerry: “Do not look now but here comes your sister.”
** camera turns toward Matthew**
Matthew: groans… “Oh this should be good.
** camera pulls back and pans over to Frances with Matt in the background.
Frances: “Matt, Jerry, wait up! Macy told me you were heading this way. Why didn’t
you tell us you were leaving. Macy and I could help. Oh do not bother rolling your eyes Matt. I am the oldest in the family you know” Frances sasses.
***Camera gets close up of Matt rolling his eyes. ***
Matt: “Lets split up and cover this area then meet back here.”
The threesome nod their heads in agreement and turn horses riding off away from camera. They separate and camera catches each getting off their horses and checking for tracks. (Get pics of them mounting up.)
As they meet back on trail and are discussing what to do next they hear two gunshots.
**Camera shows them cantering around corner then fades out.
SCENE #7
See Caleb & Chase on foot leading horses looking at tracks. Christa and Macy on horses. Camera focuses on cattle tracks then to Caleb shooting twice. Camera pans out to field.. Hear hoof beats as threesome trot toward Caleb & Chase.
Chase: “Found some tracks heading west over toward that ridge. Let’s mount up and head that way. Caleb, Macy, and I will head North and circle back to the west.”
Jerry: We will head straight West and circle toward the North. They might be in the little box canyon. Spread out and be careful in case the rustlers are with the cattle. We do not want to be easy targets.”
**Camera gets Chase & Caleb mounting then pans over to threesome heading west. (back 40)
SCENE #8
See group riding into “canyon” from Northeast.
Matt: “No cattle but plenty of tracks”.
Threesome looks up and sees Caleb and Chase dismounting.
Chase: “Looks like the cattle were here, they have a pretty good head start. Looks like their going toward town”.
The group sits on their horses… look up at canyon rim and sees Roy Rogers on Trigger. Roy hollers down.
Roy: “We have caught the rustlers. I am heading back to town your pas’ have the cattle corralled in town. Why do not you ride along with me & help bring them back. Dale has ridden over to the ranch to bring the girls along.”
**Camera fades out of Roy Rogers cantering away on Trigger.
SCENE #9
Camera cuts in of girls scrambling into surrey.
Hear Dale’s voice: “Come on girls, let’s hurry to town. Roy and the posse have caught the rustlers. We are to meet the boys at the ice cream parlor.”
Camera films girls getting situated in the surrey laughing and talking then they break into song.
Camera cuts in to boys tying horses to fence rail.
SCENE #10
Jerry: “Hurry guys, I’m kind of hungry for some ice cream. We do not want the girls eating it all!”
Boys laugh and run across the dirt road toward parlor.
Camera then cuts to group going into the ice cream parlor and having a good time.
Matt, Chase & Caleb: “Oh no! They have eaten all the ice cream!” Girls laugh at boys
Carlie: “Can we help it if you boys are slow?
Macy: “We were hungry from all of the excitement! It isn’t everyday that we get to chase rustlers.“
Frances: “And see Roy Rogers and Dale Evans!”
Everyone cheers and crowds around the counter…talking at once.
Camera fades out....
Camera focus on Jerry and Macy sing Happy Trails (on horses), and then cut in to Marcos and Madelyn. Marcos grins and camera cuts back to Jerry and Macy … fade out…
THE END
RUN CREDITS…
biggest little RR fan,
Trigs

Posted July 13th, 2007 12:23 PM IP Me and some friends did a movie last year. It was a comedy--intrigue one, and we almost died laughing while making it. Actually, it turned out pretty good! I was surprised by how well everyone acted. There was a lot of adlibbing, which probably had something to do with it--and there were also some mistakes made in the physical acting that were so funny we left them in! May God keep you smilin' down a million happy trails!

Posted July 13th, 2007 12:28 PM IP I love making movies, my sister and I have our own movie company and we've done about 5 or 6, one of my favourates though was one that I was an extra in, the only girl there, called Vimy Ridge. It was so much fun! There was about 5 other boys there, and I didn't mind being the only girl there. 'Weep not but think that I have past

Posted July 13th, 2007 12:32 PM IP Yes, we've used ours quite a bit. We even used our horses in one called Betrayer of the Crown, which was SOOO Funny! Our friend from the Bahamas played Queen Jezzy, the bad queen, and my sister and I played princesses who had to save the kingdom. I even got in an impropmptu sword fight with Jezzy's buttler, Malcolm, played by my Mom. ANd I did my first stunt but I got stuck because I didn't have my glasses on. We must of watched BoTC alot. Everybody except for one person laughed at how I got stuck up on the fence trying to do a stunt. 'Weep not but think that I have past

Posted July 16th, 2007 06:47 AM IP We ended up going to visit a friend and picking up a little row boat for the boys to go fishing. Cowboy loves to watch the trailers of RR hunting and fishing. So he was filling our friend in on the adventures of RR off screen..
Cowboy saw a clip of RR, Dusty and Sandy catching fish in a little boat... He is so excited.. Anyway the "boys" went fishing yesterday after church and I didn't get to film them. They have a friend coming over Wednesday so I will probably film them then...
They are planning some new "stunts" on the horses.... Trigs Mom

Posted July 31st, 2007 11:45 AM IP I’m so excited! I finished my latest RR story! It’s done! I am so thrilled. I got working on it the othr day and just couldn’t stop—I wrote 20 pages in 2 days. And now the whole thing is done! Yippee! Writing “the end” was a positively wonderful feeling. I go through that with every story I write, I guess—but each time it seems even more exciting than the one before. May God keep you smilin' down a million happy trails!
