I've heard Bing Crosby sing Ol' Buttermilk Sky and I really liked it. Here are the lyrics.

(do do-do-do, do do-do do)

(do do-do-do, do)

Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
I'm keepin' my eye peeled on you
What's the good word tonight?
Are you gonna be mellow tonight?

Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
Can't you see my little doggie and me
We're as happy as a christmas tree
Headin' for the one I love (the one I love)

I'm gonna pop her the question, that question
Do you Darlin', do ya do?
It'll be easy, so easy
If I can only bank on you

Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
I'm tellin' you why, now you know
Keep it in mind tonight
Keep brushin' those clouds from sight

Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
Don't fail me when I'm needin' you most
Hang a moon above her hitching post
Hitch me to the one I love
(buttermilk sky)

------ orchestral interlude ------

Gonna pop her the question,(the question)
Darlin', do you do?
It'll be easy, so easy)
If I can only bank on you

Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
I'm tellin' you why, now you know
Keep it in mind tonight
Keep brushin' those clouds from sight

Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
Don't fail me when I'm needin' you most
Hang a moon above her hitching post
Hitch me to the one I love
(buttermilk sky)

You can if you try
Don't tell me no lie
(will you be mellow and bright tonight?
Oh, butermilk sky!) "

Yeah, me too. If he did change it from Taffy to Soda, that's a good little bit of Roy Rogers trivia! Not well known, either.
Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright that God may love thee. Speak the truth even if it leads you to your death. Safeguard the helpless. That is your oath. (strikes him across the face) That is how you shall remember it. Rise a knight!

You will listen to me. Listen! The Bretheren will still be looking to us, the Black Pearl, to lead. And what will they see? Frightened bilge rats aboard a derelict ship? No! No, they will see free men and freedom! And what the enemy will see is the flash of our cannons! They will hear the ring of our swords and they will know what we can do. By the sweat of our brows, and the strength of our backs, and the courage of our hearts. Gentlemen, hoist the colors.

I was amazed to learn that about Buttermilk's early life! Just think—he almost didn’t make it! It’s kind of ironic, isn’t it? He almost got slaughtered but was saved in time—and went on to become one of the most famous movie horses ever! Gee, I wish I knew who had rescued and tamed him. They must have done a good job!
May God keep you smilin' down a million happy trails!

Cheryl said that Dale named him Buttermilk Sky (Buttermilk for short) and that his name was Soda before. But there is probably a good chance that his name was Taffy even before that.

birchbarkcowgirl & RoyRogersFan:

The farmer and his wife who rescued Buttermillk from the slaughter house named him Taffy. They were trainin' him to become a ropin' horse.

Later on, when Randall purchased him, Buttermilk's name was Soda.

After Dale got him she renamed him Buttermilk, after the song by Hougy Carmichael, "Ole Buttermilk Sky".

I don't think enjoyed is a strong enough word for how much I liked it!

True, but at least you can see them for free or cheaper then what you'd have to pay in stores.

Yeah, but then you have re-order them every time you want to see them! Sides, it's just really hard to send them back!
