Posted December 28th, 2010 08:47 AM IP The RR collection of 20 movies has The Lights of ole Santa Fe on it. Roy is on the front with his gun drawn. Is this the version that has the song The Nerve of Some People and Trigger Hasn't Got a Purty Figure on it? I got the music Its Always the Music for Christmas and really like those 2 songs. Roy and Dale fans forever.

Posted December 29th, 2010 10:11 AM IP The version of Lights of Old Santa Fe that is on the Mill Creek 20-movie Collection is definitely an edited version. One fairly easy-to-find uncut version of Lights of Old Santa Fe is the one released by Alpha Video. Both of the songs you mention are indeed on the Alpha release.
You can know if you have an uncut or edited version of a movie by comparing the runtime of the movie you have to the listings found in the Roy Rogers trivia books, Web sites, or imdb. You can't necessarily trust the box time listing from some of the public domain movie distributers because in many cases they just use the time listing from imdb even though they have an edited version.
There are also collectors' resources available that can help you get uncut versions of RR movies that aren't available commercially. Sometimes these are poorer quality because they are more concerned with completeness. In some cases though, you'll find prints that are better than what's available commercially as well as complete. Two sources I'd recommend are http://www.cometwesterns.com and http://www.b-westerncollectables.com

Good resources, Podna. "How can we not believe in the greatness of America?...we cannot, must not and will not turn back. We will finish our job. How could we do less? We're Americans."
