Posted October 27th, 2007 04:52 PM IP I have another prayer request. Our friends, the family that got us into horses, phoned a few minutes ago, and said that the dad's youngest sister and her boy were killed in a car accident today. CowgirlFan and I met them last year at the Parelli Clinic we went to, and they were really really nice and we had fun together. Can you please pray for our friends? They will be away for the next couple days and so my mom, sister and I will be taking care of their horses and dogs. As far as I know the lady and her boy weren't Christians, which is also really sad.
Thanks guys! 'Weep not but think that I have past
Before thee o'er a sea of gloom
Have anchored safe and rest at last
Where tears and mourning cannot come' ~Emily Bronte

Even though I have only met them twice I know that they were really nice people and what makes it harder is that our friends oldest child is in BC and will probably not be able to make it. She was really close to the lady that die.

Posted November 7th, 2007 04:16 AM IP I just got word last night about Rob's kidney transplant. It is now scheduled for November 19. Because of a health issue with his twin brother 2 years ago and, even though his brother has had no recurrence of it, the medical team is afraid to risk his brother's health. Rob's mom will be the donor. Rob is counting down his dialysis sessions. He is pretty tired all of the time, but just keeps plugging along.
Continued prayers for those in need. . . .

Posted November 7th, 2007 07:11 PM IP Here's the long overdue update on my sister:
She hasn't had great improvement overall and her eyes have only improved somewhat. Her vision is still distorted and blurry with double vision but not as cloudy as before. She is still going through physical therapy, which has helped her to be up and about on her feet a bit more. Her blood sugar is still unpredictable. It skyrockets and plunges most of the time. Her blood sugar will be very high one evening and plunge in the early morning. It takes hours of eating lots of chocolate and high-sugar food to bring it up to a normal level. What works one time doesn't always work the next time.
It is hard for her to be positive all the time, but she does try. Thankfullly, she had some good days a few weeks ago when she felt better and happier and was able to prepare nice meals for us.
She unfortunately caught a virus at one of her appointments about two weeks ago, consisting of throwing up, a fever, a cold, and a cough. Since my other sister takes her to appointments, she got it, too, though not as severely, and is still recovering. My mom caught it, too, and ended up with bronchitis and a mild case of pneumonia. She is improving but isn't all better.
I made the mistake of being with her too much and got a sore throat on Sunday. I threw up on Monday and had to be in bed all day with a fever, headache, and cold. I have a cough now, but my fever has stayed down today, my headache is gone, and my throat and nasal congestion is clearing.
I hope everyone will pray that we'll be better soon and that my brother and dad won't get the virus.

Posted November 9th, 2007 05:56 PM IP Thanks so much for your prayers, Leah & CowboyFan! We sure need them!
My mom and I are improving, but we still have mucus and phlegm congestion and awful coughing -- sure makes our abdominal muscles ache.
My poor dad has a cough now, too! He's still working, though. I hope he won't get worse. Being sick won't be good for his job situation right now.
My sister got bad news from her doctor in Seattle on Monday. It made her so upset and sad and discouraged that she couldn't bring herself to tell us until today. The doctor told her that the cataracts in her eyes will need surgery in about two more years, but that the surgery will worsen her eyesight, and neither glasses nor contacts can correct her vision. Also, her eyes are bad enough that she won't be able to drive or work.
What little hope she has had feels snuffed out. She is quite discouraged.
Unless there is some undiscovered fantastic procedure out there that would restore her vison, or if God works a miracle, there really isn't hope for her eyes.
The news was hard on my mom. She is doing her best to not despair even though this is devastating news.
Please pray that God will hold us up during this time, especially my parents and sister because it's hardest on them. “Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get — only with what you are expecting to give — which is everything.” ~ Katherine Hepburn, actress

Posted November 13th, 2007 05:57 PM IP Well, here's the news on my family:
My mother is feeling better, but she is still tired and not so strong. Praise God, my dad isn't worse -- although he is not entirely better yet -- and my brother hasn't come down with the virus, either. My sister is keeping her courage fairly well despite the bleak future. Movies and a motherless kitten we found last week are keeping her busy and distracted from her problems.
Personally, I am doing much better. My nasal and throat congestion is almost gone and my cough is approaching its end.
We have experienced a lot of discouragement, but we are determined to not give up even though the troubles keep coming our way. Jesus will somehow see us through this Valley of the Shadow of Death. We just need to cling to him.
Thanks for your prayers, everyone! Keep them up because we sure need them! “Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get — only with what you are expecting to give — which is everything.” ~ Katherine Hepburn, actress
