I also was an MB when it first started I could not wait to get a computer so I could get on the website. I first went to the museum in Victorville in 1980. I was lucky my last day there I was there for five days went everyday three-four hours in the morning and three-four hours in the evening every day. I was from New Jersey I just had to see him. Finally they told me to go around to the back door, and he came out with his dong Sam he had at the time. I was so excited my Aunt took a picture, I can't remember what he even said now. but I felt so lucky to bee able to stand next to him. I was back to Victorville about seven more times after that not so lucky. My last time was in 1997 in Victorville, he was riding his scooter I remember thinking he look so frail that this may be the last time I see him he passed away that next July. I went to the first Sept party ehen you meet the family and other MB the table my husband and I had was right in front of Trigger this was in Victorville. I have been to branson only once to see Dusty's show family problems heep me close to home for now. I remember being five or six every Saturday morning glued to the TV for the Roy Rogers show. I just loved them

Fran...I so well remember you. It is great to hear from you and I hope you will be a daily visitor, posting. It is fantastic we are getting some of the first members to come back to MB! Seeing RR at Museum had to be one treasure you deeply cherish! I only saw him at a rodeo but did shake hands as he rode the arena. I was fortunate to see the CA Museum at VV and have also been to Branson. Dusty has a show that is awesome.......RR/DE are smiling down on the museum and all the visitors that pass thru the doors.

I remember as a boy working with a shorthorn cattle dealer at the fair in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Roy was the star attraction for that afternoon but I didn't have the money for a ticket when everyone was going in. So...I ran like crazy to find the cattle owner to get the price of a ticket from him. I returned with cash in hand, probably 50 cents or so, and when I got to the gate, the seats were sold out. I was out of luck!!

I bet that was at Hawkeye Downs Fairgrounds, south part of Cedar Rapids, Iowa just off old 218 that runs to Iowa City. I've been there so many times for 4 H and stock car races, cattle shows etc..
Chief Blackhawk (Hawkeye) once said,' this is the place I shall make my stand' as he crossed the mighty Mississippi into Ioway Territory in 1832. Roy always respected the Native Amercans in all his films and had Choctaw blood. Native American Tribute & Musical Wigwam site http://eowawa.com

Mention 4-H.........That was a wonderful experience. I wish every boy/girl would be a member. Their codes of conduct remind me of what RR taught all of us.

I also was on the previous message board. Cowpokey, I am glad to see you back posting. I just love your wit and humor. And I haven't forgotten your 4'9" stature--now, I'm not sure if it was 4'9" or 4'6". I already know that my rememberer is not worth a plug nickel.

Bev: I hope you can find time to be on MB with us more than in past. With teaching, I know your time is greatly occupied with instilling knowledge and morals in the children in your classes. It was a pleasure meeting you in Portsmouth a few years ago!!

Well HOWDY, to all the "Legion of Old Timers" (That's an old Lone Ranger episode). It's great to see that almost everyone from the original M.B. is still around.

I have been spending my time recently in the "Hole-In-The-Wall" WY. That's where Old Cowboys and Outlaws "hang their hat".

I was asked by one of the Premier Message Board Members here to make an apperance on this topic, and I cannot disappoint a true friend like that by NOT "going to the roundup".

Adios for now;

Thanks, Durango Kid, for showing up for the "roundup"! Hoping that computer of yours stays well and you can post frequently!!!! I continue to send Huge Congratulations to Mrs. K for that pie winning contest.
Cowpokey and I hope to get many more from the beginning of old MB to come back and make this become a MB that RR/DE would be so proud of and I can hear RR saying, "Happy Trails"!
Your posts were always enjoyed and looked forward to by each of us.....so, get those fingers moving with some nice posts once again!

Welcome back to the MB reunion.

I enjoy that part of Wyoming immensly, although I enjoy lots of Wyoming. We almost moved to the south slop of the Tetons (Jackson Hole) in the early '80's but didn't make it.

It's good to hear from you again.

I want to go there so bad.
If it's a job, do it. Pardner, put your back in to it. 'Cause a little bit of dirt's gonna wash off in the rain. If it's a horse, ride it. If it hurts, hide it. Dust yourself off and get back on again. That's cowboy logic, every cowboy's got it. It's in the way he lives his life and the songs he sings.

lindylikescarrots: As you get older, you will have the opportunity to see the world. Try to travel as much as you can.......there is MUCH to see/do and I will never forget all the many places I have been and the things done there. I love to get in the car and just let the roads lead us to wherever and flying is a nice mode of travel. Start now and begin to make lists of places that mean the most to you to see as the years come/go.

Here, ....... here we are Cowpokey!! It sure seems like "the ole times', havin' you back on here. Buffalo Jim and I've been here on the message board from almost the beginin'! Been here since 11-'01.

It's "SO GOOD" to see ya postin' Cowpokey!! So many of us have missed your "words of wisdom" and that "special wit" the Good Lord gave ya. Some of us have had the pleasure of meetin' you and Merrijoy and gettin' to know you fine folks these past years. Ya know, I'm so very glad my mom and Willus got to meet you two 'fore the Lord called them on home. When we returned home that day from Branson a few years ago, they just couldn't quit talkin' 'bout "that nice couple from Bed Pan Flats" and how much they enjoyed their visit with you both. Buffalo Jim and I thank you and Merijoy for bein' so kind to them!!

It's a shame your church is so far away from us here in SW Missouri. Think I've told ya more than once, 'you'd have two new members in your pulpit' (we are of the same faith) if it was a 'wee bit closer to us'.

We've been "On the Road" lately. After returnin' home from the Roy Rogers Festival a day or two, we turned 'round and drove to Texas to visit family members, some old friends and visit with some of our Extended Roy & Dale Family Members for a while. Then, Felina and I took Dad on a special trip for his birthday this last week. Seems like we have been gone from home this past month!!

SO GLAD YOU'VE RETURNED "HOME AGAIN", where ya belong!!

With Cowpokey back, we need a few more of the other "seasoned" members and it will seem like it was only yesterday.
We "almost" got to meet CD and MJ once when in KY but at last minute, they had to cancel meeting us. The "almost" is just not good enough!
Carolyn: I am certain there are many others on here that are of same Faith as CD/MJ. I love what a Priest once said at a Thanksgiving community service (the 4 largest churches would rotate each year and the church where it was held, their choir was used since they were accustomed to organ/seating, etc. but...other churches rotated the refreshments/who gave sermon/decorations (flowers)/leaflet with the order of songs, etc. The Priest said.....We are all trying to get to the same place, but, we all just try in slightly different ways but basically, when all is said and done, we are worshiping in almost same manner.

Someone else from the old MB...VegasRocky...but he does make an appearance here along. I have noted he has been on sometimes after midnight when I would be on....plus his daytime postings.

CD: Thru the months, I kept telling you how much we wanted you back here but, I also knew you were very busy...a schedule like yours is enough to make anyone want to pull out their hair!

I'm sure there are many here that are of the same faith. I didn't mean anything by mentionin' that we were of the same faith (denomination) as Cowpokey. Buffalo Jim and I just happen to be! We both have been to different faith services through the years, many times over and have received special blessin's from each service we attended, no matter what faith it was!!

When all is said and done, I believe we all are "One Family in Christ". In my opinion, bein' of different faiths doesn't seperate God's Children.

Carolina, the above words you spoke equals the truth. Whatever denomination one happens to be doesn't make as much difference as the "...one family in Christ..." is. That's the key!!! "...in Christ..."
Good sermon material there...wanna preach, Carolina?

Carolyn: As usual, Lucy probably worded her post in a manner you mis- interpreted. I only meant that there are many of the same Faith as CD and MJ plus, there are an equal number of members of other Faiths. I was raised in their denomination also. I only posted what the Priest stated due to it had stuck with me for many years and to me...and maybe me only, it made much sense.

Hi Everyone Hello Cowpokey D I remember when I first found the MB you had just returned home after having Knee surgery I think it was, so you were my first contact, and as always I send my best wishes to you and Merrijoy.

That day I received an email from a lady that I had never met in my life. I still have not met her, but she has become my dearest friend, and has given me enormous support through some difficult times, we email each other most days, try to put the world to rights, moan about our aches and pains, make each other laugh, sometimes a good cry too, Pray for our family and friends, and others who are suffering too. I thank the Lord that he directed me to the message board, so that I could 'meet' Brenda Castilla.

A few weeks later I made more friends - Buffalo Gal and Big Jim, followed by Painted Pony and Music Man, all have been a great support too. Thanks to all

Love to you all and Happy 4th July.

Endeavour to live your life, so that on your passing even the Undertaker/Funeral Director will be sorry.
