good luck... it seems like there is no one in the area willing to start a project. I have been trying to get something together for over a month now but no one will respond.

Well, that's just rediculous.
We need some decent, new, and different stuff around here!
It's all the same, it gets boring.

very much so... Emo and scream have their place... but I am ready for some new work

I am really wanting to do something along the lines of Staind/A perfect circle/queens of the stone age. Kind of a mashup. No one seems to be inetested in Fargo though. A lot of people in GF, but I am not sure I want to make that drive every practice.

so, you're looking for guitar and drums?

so essentially just guitar drums and vox? if so, that'd be cool

or is that just the basic requirements you want right now?

Start making flyers to put up at Discontent/DSK8, Dead Rockstar, etc.

It'll probably get you more attention...especially from those that dont use the internet, let alone frequent any of the scene boards.

I wish you good luck with your band, hopefully my idea will help.

I will go with Steve's idea. If the music stores down there have poster boards like they do up here... (Marguirites *shudder* and Eckroth (Don't know if they even do anything band related of it its just concert band stuff anymore))

The scene can always use more bands that are different and not just metal, screamo, punk or whatever. The more variaty the better IMHO.

I've always been tempted to join up in a band, but I don't have the time, nor do i think i have the tallent anymore. I haven't played my drum set in over 5 years or so.... I could probobly sing something, but I'm not into the screaming stuff that much. Rise against/story of the year is about as far screaming as I go.

Once again. the whole time commitment thing gets me.

That and I have horrible Cymbals for my drum set... Zildjian Original ZBT's anyone?? :P

The ZBT's aren't bad cymbals...EXPECIALLY for the price. I have a 16" Rock Crash that's outlasted my 16' Z Custom Crash. Sounds great, but the ZBT's don't fill in well.

Anyways, back on topic. Flyers at music stores are a god idea, but don't forget the music departments of MSUM and NDSU. With a whole area dedicated to music on both compuses, I doubt you won't get a response. Good luck on the search.

You really should put up flyers, just like at random places.

yes...like at the old folk's home.
we who are your closest friends feel the time has come to tell you that every Thursday we have been meeting, as a group to devise ways to keep you in perpetual uncertainty, frustration, discontent, and torture by neither loving you as much as you want, nor cutting you adrift. Your analyst is in on it, plus your boyfriend and your ex-husband; and we have pledged to disappoint you as long as you need us. In announcing our association, we realize we have placed in your hands a possible antidote against uncertainty--indeed against ourselves. But since our Thursday nights have brought us to a community of purpose, rare in itself, with you as the natural center, we feel hopeful you will continue to make unreasonable demands for affection if not as a consequence of your disastrous personality, then for the good of the collective.
looky!

Dammit, I messed up bigtime, o.k...nvm the random places thing, I'd say anywhere besides a church, old folk's home...ah school wouldn't be to bad, but the best places to put them up are, Discontent, anykind of music store, anykind of skateshop, something that has to do with music.

I adore my Original ZBTs, thanks. I got a Z Custom Medium Crash and I was like "Wow, I payed more for this than I did for 5 ZBTs??" ReDONKulous.

Anyways, yes, she's gotten the most postitive feedback on the Musicians Wanted board.

Trust me, if you play Christian music, don't tell ANYONE. We don't believe in that one guy up here, whadduya call him? Oh yes, God. He makes bad music.

I have a 22" ZBT Ride that i can't stand the sound. the crash to me sounds horrid also. I do love the hi-hats.

I'm a fan of the classic ZIldjans. or the K's.

Then again I'm not fan of crashing cymbals at every moment possible.... So I'm going for a different sound.

the ZBT's have way to long of a sustain.

If people like them so much I might have to throw them up for sale to get some ones I like.

Sorry for topic swerve.... Good Luck again! Get some different music going! You can't be the only one buying the CD from best buy.....

Posting flyers is the best thing you could probably do. As you can tell by looking at the message boards, the style of music played is predominantly metal/hard rock. With what you're going for, you'll want to reach out to a bigger audience...and word of mouth is the best ever.

I think you meant Z Customs...the ZBT's seem thin compared to any one out of that line. Sorry for continuing the off-topic shiite

No. I mean the ZBT's. They are the only cymbals I have. i have a 16" Crash 22" ride and i think 14" Hi-Hats....

The crash and ride have way to long of a sustain for my taste and its not a crisp sound its more of a bell ringing no matter where you hit them.

Hated them from the start except the Hi Hat. Liked that.

sure it's not a 20" ride? I think I have the exact same set (guy from the great frog society gave them to me). But I think the hi hat's crap and the ride and crash are OK. I have a few strips of electrical tape on the bottom of the ride, so it dulls it down, cuz it's super bright without it.

we should just start a seperate thread about this.
