someday I'll be a minstrel in the gallery, I'll paint you a picture of the queen

Posted April 25th, 2009 08:53 PM IP It exemplified everything that is great about the GF scene and reminded me of what Ray's vision for a unified scene. I got pretty overwhelmed while talking with Ray's family. They seemed really taken back by the whole show, the turn out and the fact that we pressed our CD with Ray's name on it. I guess they didn't know how much he meant to the scene and its great to know that they got to see it and learn more about their son. They told me a lot of flattering stories about Ray always asking for $ to come to KSA shows, etc. Takes Manhattan played their ass off and were my personal favorite act of the night. The Aggro Saints were very impressive as well, Brando is one hell of a performer. I was looking at the older ladies in the back while he was saying some in between banter and they were all cracking up. loved it.
BIG THANKS to Conno & Seth for putting this on and having us play. We loved having the honor of kicking off such a fine event!
Simply put: this show was beautiful & definitely in my top shows played & attended.

Posted April 27th, 2009 03:09 PM IP very well set up show
good crowd, good acts, this is a great example of what we need to start seeing more of.
EDIT: hopefully it doesn't take more death to spur this, seriously. it just goes to prove that gf can put on good shows if people are truly motivated. there was a little boy, stood on a burning log
rubbing his hands with glee
he said: "oh mother england, did you light my smile? or did you light this fire underneath?"

Posted April 29th, 2009 01:30 PM IP great show, even though there were some problems with someone punching a hole in the wall of the mens bathroom, but other than that, all the bands fucking rocked. RIP Ray ...whatever...
