Play on sweet flute player! That's certainly no excuse for being bullied, imo.

My thoughts about what happened to my son, was to teach him what he could do in difficult situations. He was too little to win in a fight with 2 teenagers with knives. The Tai Quan Do (still not sure about the spelling), put him in his own body, and there he learned some things, I, as a woman, couldn't really teach him. I taught him to ride a bike, fish, swim, and many other things, but teaching a boy to become a man is outside of my experience.

Mr. O.,

I am simply sharing my personal experience. It is sad, but true, that in many homes, even today, girls are not celebrated in the same ways that sons are. I'm really thrilled for your girls. Your being a welcoming, loving father gives them a great start in life. They are more likely to make good decisions about men, because you've given them information that is unavailable any other way.

Cool! What kind of music do you most like to play on the flute, Jake? Also, how did you get involved with playing the flute?

Taekwondo is a very popular martial art, and it is good cultivation. I am happy that your son was able to learn it.

Although I trained on classical music now I play in a Jam Band with a Jazz/Rock feel.

All this talk of school days reminded me of a incident when in high school a sneering youth taunted me with "Jake shows up every morning to band practice and sits with nine girls." and me dreamily saying "oh yea" a friend elbowed me saying that was a put down.I remember thinking I liked my seating arrangement.

My vision of Tao is one of emptiness of self but a compassionate understanding of our surroundings.

Interesting, that made me think . . . what is my vision of Tao. The answer is the same . . . what is not Tao?

Today, waiting on my supper, I read a story by Chuang Tzu. It made my supper richer and more wonderful than I could have thought of or created, by myself.

I feel great gratitude for all of us. Those who write their thoughts and ideas, those who write books, those who simply acknowledge Tao.
