Posted March 7th, 2007 13:24 IP Hi, all, I think from time to time it's nice to get away from the serious discussions and relax doing a little test.
Enjoy!

Posted March 7th, 2007 13:29 IP ***You Are 35% Left Brained, 65% Right Brained***
The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.
The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

Yes! I was horrible at math!
Does it mean when you are not leftbrained (doglovers) that you love cats instead ?

Posted March 7th, 2007 18:13 IP And in my gradereport was written: She is daydreaming too often, and when asked what we just talked about gives a blank stare. (I quote that in a more agreeable way)
But I was captain of the ball team!!! I was a real sports ace! I can't believe how good I once was...
but alas, now that I am a confused computerfreak I can talk about my past glory. *SIGH*

I wonder if my being left-handed plays into it.

Posted March 7th, 2007 23:27 IP .... about being lefthanded, jtsMT, this may interest you: I read when a man is lefthanded he is automatically more in touch with his Yin side, more into arts, intuition, more empathic than the average righhanded man.
In women its also like this, more interest in arts, but they are more in touch with their Yang side, more energetically charged than the average righthanded woman.
Interesting, huh?
For a lefthanded man a 'left handed' or energetic woman is an ideal match. He will not feel challenged but pleased when she takes over a bit.

Posted March 14th, 2007 00:11 IP Hmm, I came out 70% right brained but for many of the questions I wanted to select both answers. This goes along with what I was once told about being right and left brained but that it was in conflict and that I should work at making it harmonise.

Posted March 14th, 2007 00:48 IP hmm, I had a really cool history teacher at seconday school, she made us attend this after school session after school for an hour once a week. Everyone moaned about it initially but everyone turned out liking it because she actually taught us how to improve our memory and study better by training our 'weaker' side of the brain...We did this by teaching ourselves to write with our wrong hand, in my case the left hand...And yes this does actually work. You can teach yourself to write with both hands and eventually you find yourself picking stuff up and playing sports with your left hand or foot!
That extra lesson went down a blast. And the history department had the best grades in the school.

I was left handed when I first attended school, but we were not allowed to be left handed and they forced us left handers to write with the right hand. I was therefore ambi-dextrous for a while (writing only) and now can't write worth a dang with my left hand.
Interesting class you had - I wish I had been told it would be good. instead we were just told it was wrong to be left handed.

A Heilpraktikerin (what's that in english, Anna?) tested me once. She told me to just count the odd number backwards from 100. I just rattled off... 99, 97, 95, 93, 91... and she said, stop, clearly right-brained, that came straight out of your gut, you didn't have to think about it first.
I was also re-trained to use my right hand when I was a kid. I'm right-handed for most things but there are many weird exceptions and I'm very much left-footed, lol

Posted July 13th, 2007 12:36 IP I'm not sure what Heilpraktiker is in English, alternative healer, perhaps? ....that's my job, btw....
Another good test is to fold your hands as in christian type prayer.
Tell me which thumb is on top.
Also, everybody has a hair whirl on the head,( don't know how to say it in English, arrghh...)
Which side? Left or right?

Okay, when the left thumb is on top of the right one it points at a lefthander. Left Wirbel too. But you have a right Wirbel. So that could point at a person who is pretty much "beidhändig"...interesting.

O man... my friend just went through a totally whacky period in her life culminating in being scammed by some Dutch criminals. She'S doing remarkable well and says she learned so much about herself in the process that it was worth all the pain expense. I'll post the whole story when I get time.
Hey, Anna, if your a Heilpraktikerin, you might be slighting yourself a bit by using the term Alternative Healer. A Healing Arts Practitioner comes closer but there really is no englich equivelent, afaik. Maybe in England? Are there officially licensed and qualified "Alternative Medicine" practitioners in England?
Heilpraktiker is not an easy thing to become. Many have thriving practices and more success than School Medicine Doctors.
I always choke a little over the word "Alternative" because I don't see anything with centuries of tradition behind it as "alternative"

Posted July 14th, 2007 11:38 IP It's always this problem when you're not a native speaker. I just looked it up in the online dictionary leo.org. Do you know it?
I will definitely change that entry wherever I posted that...
Shaman isn't the right word either.
I agree with "alternative".

Posted July 14th, 2007 20:16 IP yessss... I learned about leo.org just a short time ago, it's quite good.
About the story, I was going to write it out but now I think I'd best not as it's still ongoing and involves internet gangsters from Holland and Nigeria. Basically, she got taken in by someone pretending to be in love with her. It was very painful when she went through it but when her eyes opened and she saw what was going on, well, it was like a spiritual cleansing. Somehow she really turned out better than ever. I lived trough the worst of it with her, though and I think I was more shaken up than she.
Actually, I gotta give her a call and get an update.
I've been really short on online time. From Thursday through Sunday is often that way with me.

Posted January 19th, 2008 16:13 IP I too got 20% to 80% so I wonder if there is some flaw in the little test because the results should be a bit more varied I would think. I already knew that I have traits that are associated with right brain processes. Interestingly musicians actually have a physical enlargement of the area that connects the two. So their brains look different than even yours and Einsteins would look.

Posted February 11th, 2008 01:11 IP I am 150% right brained! I have learned to access both sides, however, my immediate response is always a bit different than most folk. I think it's fascinating that so many people here are right brained.
