Posted January 11th, 2010 07:28 PM IP IM REALLY REALLY SCARED IF SOMEONE COULD PLEASE JUST READ THIS AND LET ME KNOW IF THERES ANYTHING I CAN DO OR IF IM GOING TO LOSE MY BABY!! PLEASE READ.......ok, i have been on methadone for a year and half.I am 2MONTHS PREGNANT,. They stressed how important it is for me to take every single dose every single day and to not put my body thru withdrawl. My husband and I are both on Methadone. We have 2 wk take homes, at the begining of jan my husband was taking my mother in law home in fla, we live in ga. while in a gas station his suitcase ws stolen out of his truck with his med bag in it. he lost 4 days of methadone. the clinic we go to wouldnt replace it even if he went daily. he goes on thrs, i go on mondays so since we are the same dosage minus 5ml he took mine since he would be going back thrs and replace it and so on........when i went on monday for my 2wks they said the clinic would be closed monday so i had to come back thrs. my husband took 2 of my doses. Therefore i am without 2mrw and wed. I AM SOOOO SCARED. i dont know what to do. I thought about going to the clinic and asking my counselor if they could be replaced since im pregnant. But the clinic i go to is pretty strict, I thought about going to the Emergency Room. I have my first doctors appt 2mrw with my OB/GYN but with it being my first doctors appt i dont think they will prescribe methadone. I am on medicaide. But at this point I dont know what to do. I am TERRIFIED to lose my baby. I have longed for this for such a long time now. I am responsible, its my first child. My husband and I decided we were ready to start our family but i was going to start coming off the methadone to do so, the next month we found out i was pregnant., I would absolutly die if anything happens to this baby. I cant lose him yet i feel everything is out of my control. This is my first post. I stumbled across the site when i went online looking for help just now. PLEASSE IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT I CAN DO PLEASE HELP. I AM WITHOUT MY DOSE FOR 2MRW AND WED AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO, I HEARD I WOULD SPONTAINISLY MISCARRY. PLEASE HELP ANY INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT I CAN DO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Posted January 11th, 2010 09:51 PM IP First of all, welcome to our site, and I'm so glad you found us. Secondly, you have to relax! The more you stress and the higher your blood pressure goes, the quicker you'll go into withdrawl. i know how hard it is not to worry, but you're right, you can't go without your dose. Especially 2 in a row. Why can't you go in tomorrow to your clinic? Even if that's not your day, you should go in. I would talk to your counsler, I don't know if you should tell her your husband took your doses, but tell her they got stolen and see what she suggests to do. If they want to UA you to make sur eyou just didn't take them, then let them. Do whatever they want to to make sure you're not just trying to get more. If you need to go to the ER, then go. I would go there as a last resort tho. I don't think your OB can prescribe you methadone. When I thought I was going to lose my ins that paid for my methadone treatment and I wasn't going to afford it, I asked my OB if he would be able to prescribe it until the end of my pregnancy, and he said that was illegal for him to prescribe it to me for addiction. So if I were you, I would go in asap tomorrow morning to talk to your counsler. And be reassured that they will understand that you can't go without your doses. Please don't stress, that's going to be more harmful to the situation. Take a warm bath, drink some chamomile tea or something like that to help you relax and sleep well..I will email one of the moderators on this site about your situation so they can giv eyou advice too. Hang in there... Take Care,
tasper

Posted January 11th, 2010 10:38 PM IP Renee,
Okay hun first I am glad you found our site. I know how scared you must feel and I hope that we can figure this out for you. Honestly the best thing you can do it go to your clinic and tell them that your bottles were stolen. Make a police report too, or tell them you would be happy to go file a police report and see what they say. Your clinic should NOT allow you to go without methadone knowing that this can be dangerous for a fetus. IF your clinic refuses to dose you then I would recommend you tell who ever it is you speak with there that you want to speak with the director of the clinic or the person who is there that is highest in charge. IF they still will not dose you then you go to the local hospital, tell them that your methadone was stolen and that your clinic will not re dose you. Someone along this way should help you! IF not than please call me and I will see what I can do to help or see what I can come up with. I just have a hard time thinking that they would refuse to dose a pregnant woman. So, start there and see how it goes. Please all me or text message me asap tomorrow so I know how things went. I did take the day off of work but I will be in and out of my house. I will worry if I don't hear from you by noon or so. You are in the same time zone as me being you live in Florida, where I use to live. I am living in Massachusetts. Honey, try to calm down and relax because your baby will sense your stress. I know how hard that is when you have this going on, but try to rest for tonight and lets see what they tell you tomorrow okay, hun? If you need me I am here for you, okay? Please call me. Hang in there.

Posted January 12th, 2010 12:01 PM IP Tasper and Jessica....Thank you both so much for all the information and support. I called my counselor this morning. She adviced me to call and file a police report but he refused to do it, at which point I called her for him to relay the msg to her. She and the director told me and my husband to come in. They called the Doctor and he said bc of our past history, the fact that we work hard and have always done so well he would dose us the next two days to get us back on track esp me so there isnt any harm to the baby.
I was so upset last night and so desperate. In a way I feel all this happened for a reason. If it hadnt happened I never would have found this website. Its exactly what my husband and I need in order to get us thru the next 7 months.
Once again thank you sooo much for all your advice and support I look forward to getting to know you all and receiving more education on methadone and pregnancy

Posted January 12th, 2010 12:44 PM IP Oh good! I'm so glad you worked things out. I knew even if the clinic wouldn't help you that someone would've helped. Well now you've found us here to help you. I didn't know much of anything about pregnancy and methadone till I found this place and I learned a lot and chose the best hsopital to have my baby boy at and he's already home and healthy! My advice is to read, read, read the messages and archives here and we've all been where you are and we all made it through it eventually, so that's comforting huh? Take Care,
tasper

Posted January 12th, 2010 04:42 PM IP thats THE most comforting part! haha. I had my first doc appt this morning. I was a little worried the doc I went to would know anything about methadone. But once i told my counselor who my doc was she said he was the one they secretly wished I went to bc they communicate so well with eachother. Also the Doctor told me that the baby would be fine hes seen many women who take methadone and deliver healthy babies. He said he would make sure I knew as much as possible and was as comfortable as possible thru my whole pregnancy. Soooo today definitly turned out 110% better than I had envisioned it would last night when I posted the plea for help. Once again I look forward to getting to know everyone and doing research to make sure tha baby and I have a safe pregnancy!!

Posted January 13th, 2010 04:28 AM IP Im so happy that it worked out for you hun! I had something somewhat similar happen to me in November. At the time I was late in my second trimester (I'm 35 weeks pregnant now), my husband and I travelled out of state to see our relatives. Well, some of my methadone bottles leaked while travelling! I was freaking out. I was so sure that the clinic would tell me "Too bad, thats your responsibility", or something. I was afraid to call them about it because I didn't want it took look like I was trying to get extra doses to sell or get high. Well, my family convinced me to call and you know what.....they were really nice about it. They replaced the bottles that leaked and that was that (of course, you could see where the bottles had leaked out).I think that if you're going to a decent clinic and your a good client then they will try to help you out usually.
Thats awesome about your OB/GYN , Reni! I think its really important to have a good rapport with your doctor. JENN

Posted January 13th, 2010 07:43 AM IP Hi Reni!!!!!!
Congratulations on your pregnancy Hunni!!!! I am so relieved you got that situation sorted out!! Tasper and Jess are both so great and gave you such good advice! I can't imagine how scared you must of been when you realised you were 2 doses short. Thank goodness your clinic was understanding and did the right thing! I think if you are a good reliable client and you have been in treatment for a long time, then they will usually take things like that into account. I have known girls go to the Emergency Room as a last resort and some ER's will dose you and some won't, but if you ever have a problem like that again, then i think anything is worth a try!!
Anyway hun, I am so glad you found us, and i hope you will keep us up to date on the rest of your pregnancy!!!! I'm so pleased you have a good OB, it really does make your pregnancy so much easier!!! And the fact your clinic likes him is even better!!! Your methadone use certainly won't harm your baby, so please don't worry about it! My 2 happy healthy sons are living proof of that!!!! I had both of them whilst on methadone and thay are just perfect! I'm really looking forward to getting to know you! Thank goodness you had a happy ending to you SCARY saga!!!!
Congrats again Hunni!!!!

Posted January 15th, 2010 08:02 PM IP Hi Reni322-
I didnt see your msg in time to reply but I thought i would share this anyway. A very similar situation happened to me where I was left out of my methadone for a cpl days early on in my pregnancy-first 2-3 months. I had heard that our clinic doesnt help you out with extra methadone if anything happens to your original doses so asking them was not even an option. So I had to suffer through those two days of withdrawal. And I was sooooo scared that I might miscarry. I cannot tell you how alone scared and devastated I felt. Not only that , I was horribly sick. My muscles and legs hurt so bad i could have screamed and cried for hours. It was worse than horrible. I ,thanks to God , did not miscarry. Every one is different with withdrawal and some Ive heard can go a couple days without their dose and be fine. Not me though. Im so happy that you were able to figure things out and get the dose you needed. My advice to you is no matter how much you love your significant other and want to help him out, You and your baby are 1st priority- for the health of you and baby. Well Good luck with everything and Im so glad you were able to get some help! Get your free online pregnancy calendar from WhatToExpect.com

Posted January 19th, 2010 04:50 PM IP hello! thank you so much to everyone to replied. Im sorry i havent posted in awhile i have used all my extra time for sleep!! wow!! i have never slept and ate so much before in my life!! haha.. anyways. i have spread the word about the website to my counselor(s) and other women at the clinic. Im my counselors first pregnant patient so theres lots to learn together. The pregnancy is going great! im a little worried im either pregnant with twins or further along than expected,
(well the further along part i would be ok with snce my chance of miscarriage would be slimmer) bc im getting pretty big to just be 9wks but i may be one of those who gain a lot which im perfectly ok with haha. i have had A LOT of morning sickness, but i have been able to keep 2 MUCH down so they cancel each other out i guess. I love being pregnant, now tha i have found the webiste and realized im not alone I also feel 100% better about my condition. I felt so alone before and felt no one ie friends family..knew what myself or the baby was going thru or would be going thru but I feel so much better now.
I look forward to the months (years) to come getting to know you guys. there isnt a better group i would have rather found to share this experience with. chat with you guys later!

Posted January 19th, 2010 05:00 PM IP We are all glad you found our site too huni!!! Glad you are feeling better about things! Keep spreading the word about this site! Also remember this is part of a bigger site too... there's a lot of support on the main page at MethadoneSupport.org too with a lot of info and other people on methadone! They have an open chat room there that has a moderator in it 1 time a day I think from like 7 to 8 p.m. or 8 to 9... its been a while since I checked, you should check it out some time!!
