Posted January 11th, 2010 09:22 AM IP I could really use some advice on this if possible. I am currently on a 60 mg. split dose. I am also 34 weeks pregnant with my first child. Well, I have had ALOT of trouble sleeping. Now, I know that that is common for pregnant women but I've also felt feverish at night. I am so confused as to if this is just normal pregnancy stuff I'm feeling or if I need an increase. Before I found this website and all of you wonderful ladies, I was determined to keep my dose as low as possible. Well, after reading all the info on here, now I know that its better to for the baby to stay comfortable. However, I really don't want to increase unless I need it. Any advice? JENN

Posted January 11th, 2010 09:31 AM IP Oh, and Ive also been having headaches too. If I wasn't pregnant I know that I would know FOR SURE if I was going into withdrawls because I've had to deal with them so much in the past. Being pregnant , however,I'm not so sure. Some of the symptoms of pregnancy and withdrawl are the same. I am seeing the clinic doctor tommorrow for a regular follow up and if I need to increase tommorow would be the perfect time for me to mention it.I just want to make sure I do the right thing. JENN

Posted January 11th, 2010 10:54 PM IP I would definitely mention it and then let the doctor asses you and go over how you feel with you. Yes, its a fact that some withdrawal symptoms are very similar to pregnancy ones, but that is why we have doctors so they can help us figure it out. Are you having any other symptoms? Any night sweats, or being cold, yawning a lot, watery eyes, sneezing, .... any at all? Just keep paying close attention to your body! Let me knowhow your apt. goes with the clinic doctor! I hope you and him can figure this out so you feel better!

Posted January 13th, 2010 06:17 AM IP Jess is right, def ask your Doctor! He should be able to help you determine wether it's withdrawals or not. But personally I think it sounds like withdrawal. I had exactly the same sympotms, plus struggling to sleep and I couldn't decide if it was withdrawals or pregnancy 'stuff', but as soon as I raised my dose the nasty feelings went, I could sleep again and I felt 100% better.
Let us know what your Doctor says and if you have an increase, let us know if it helps. It's so common to require a raise especially during the last trimester. Hope you feel better soon Hun!!

Posted January 13th, 2010 12:05 PM IP So, I spoke with the my clinic's doctor and I think I will go ahead and increase. He said that he can't be positive that its definitely withdrawls and not pregnancy symptoms but that if its been going on for at least a week then its better to go ahead and increase a little bit to be on the safe side. Thank you ladies so much for the great advice! You guys are wonderful!!!!!! JENN

Posted January 15th, 2010 08:40 PM IP I have to wait until Tuesday as thats when the Dr. will be there. Over the last day or so, I can definitely tell now that it is slight withdrawls. I'll be fine for the next few days until I can see him, though. They aren't too bad. Thank you for asking! JENN

Posted January 17th, 2010 07:42 AM IP I am surprised that they have made you wait so long to increase your dose being you are pregnant! At the clinics around here they can bring a pregnant woman up right away. All they do is page the on call doctor and he calls back and he will usually approve the increase, unless there is a reason they don't approve it, like the woman has a history of asking for increases and claiming they are sick, when they really are not, just to try to get a buzz... Its sad, but there are women even when pregnant who will abuse the fact that they are pregnant to go up on their methadone as much as possible. Its a shame. It gives us a bad name, ya know? Not all of us do that. we only go up if we feel the need to because we are legitimately ill. Anyway, let us know how you feel after you increase! I bet you will feel sooooooo much better!!

Posted January 20th, 2010 06:14 PM IP Well, they raised my dose 10 mgs. which was more than what I wanted to go up, but I do feel a lot better now. They said that I am on a low dose for being pregnant and that with my symptoms I should go up at least 10 mgs. My dose is holding me the full 24 hours now and I'm not watching the clock for when I can take my methadone anymore, so thats good! Thank you for the advice everyone! BTW, I'm 36 weeks today. My baby will be here so soon. I'm so excited! JENN
