I am very excited about my taper...and, hope it continues to go as well as it has been!

I was on 80/100 a month ago. I jumped down to 80/60 one week, was fine!! Next week, 80/50, then, 80/40. Today, is day one of just 80. I decided, I am going to just cut out my evening dose and see how it goes. I have been on Methadone since August 25th, 2009. I even had a baby on it...she was perfectly healthy, no withdrawals, doing fabulous!

I will try to post on here, and come to this forum as I taper. I plan to stay on 80 for a few weeks, maybe even a month. I also will be getting my next set of carries next week, very exciting! I have weekend carries now, but next week I will only have to go to the clinic Monday, Wednesday & Friday. YAY! By the time my daughter turns 1, I will only have to go to the clinic once every two weeks Thanks to my clean UA's!

In addition to this taper, I am really trying to lose weight. I can't believe how hard it has been to lose the baby weight after being on Methadone. With my previous child, it fell off, this time....it just sits there....barely moving.

I am doing a strict 500 calorie a day diet, in hopes to kick start my metabolism and weight loss. I will be going to water aerobics tonight, and then walking 3 miles on the treadmill after. I CAN DO THIS! I feel like a new woman! So much is going on in my life, so many GOOD positive changes, all made by me! I am finally feeling "normal" like me again, whatever that means!

I really plan on giving back, and helping girls in my situation....the best way I can!

Hugs everyone!! Stay strong, and just know, the only way out is through!

Hi Hannah.
Good to hear the news that your baby had no with drawals, she is very lucky.
The road is still long for you, but with all the positive "changes" in your life I believe you can make it without a problem. Main point is you want to be clean. And a person who really wants it knows this. Theres no two ways around it. Either you do or you dont.

So for now, Best of luck andkeeep coming back. For support, motivation and just to let us know your situation so others can also learn that its possible if the want is there.

Hugs, and like you said stay strong. R

HI Hannah! Good to have you here, & with such positive input! And you have done beyond anything I've heard for a taper! Unless someone was being feetoxed oron an "Administrative"detox! You seem tp be doing so well that I hesitate to say this, but I will! I mean it's so "normal" for most everyone but toward the very conclusion of your taper, you may hit a wall, though you are doing so well! I don't know but I tend to think that youhave been on it for a relatively short time so possibly a reason for your "ease" thru this! I do not want to come off as negative to you in any way & I don't believe I am! I am so very happy about your success! I really do hope you will keep coming back & update us all! During your taper & after for as long as you like! We have one or two that have left their cliniks & are either clean of everything or got out of the clinik & went on to a dr. It's not always that easy to get a dr. to treat you either! I mean one from his office or even pain mgmt!
So, welcome again! Please do keep us posted on your progress! Look forward to seeing your posts! take care all

Hannah, You have done very well so far and sound like a model methadone pt. I wish more people at clinics were like you but it's not that way. Keep up the good work.

Hannah, Hi again, I was just telling another person that I really think their experience in Tapering has been one of the best I've ever heard. But I have to say that yours is absolutely there too! It's great to see that people are having such great experiences with their detoxes & tapers! You are a real inspiration to me! I've had my share of problems! But I have learned a lot about tapering during mine & by others posting about theirs. I hope you'll keep us updated about you & how you're doing! Thanks for all you've said. Looking to hear from you when you can. take care all

YES, same Hannah I am still doing fantastic! I held for a few weeks, since I posted this, and now started my taper up again. I am going slow and steady now....2mgs/week for now, and re-visiting with my counselor once I hit 70mg....I may decide to go faster at that time....we will see. I don't mind taking years to get off as long as I don't have to feel withdrawls...that's what I am scared of. I am soooo not even worried about relapse! I am in recovery, and always will be. It will be a life long addiction and disease that I will take care of.

As for my diet, I have cheated several times I am so bummed! I really want to lose weight, but I love food! And, Mdone makes me eat more...sucks!!!

So, today after stepping on the scale and seeing I weigh 172, it's time to get serious, and get back to my diet and regular gym workouts....I CAN do this!

Thanks for listening everyone, have a wonderful Easter!

The only way out is through...

Hiya' Hannah! So glad to hear from you again, & SOO upbeat! I found out even when I was still using, that the less I moaned & groaned, the less difficult my WDs seemed to be. Whether it was true or not, doesn't matter~~it's what worked! I remember soooooooooo many times layin' around & moaning & groaning cuz I didn't have anything at all, but still knowing for a fact that on the 3rd of each month there was an Rx I got plenty of, never failed. Enough already of that! If you haven't read any of the posts I've written on "My taper over the last year or so", well it's OK, but it tells my experience of going too fast (I think) during my taper & I was at about 230 mgs. at the time & kept going down 4 or 5 every 2 weeks. FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH ME THO! i HAD TO (sorry 'bout the Caps!") My famous last words are about how everyone is different & an individual to everyone. What I do for me may be way off for another! I had to go back UP to 190 mgs. 2 times! I am back at 185 mgs/day now, & since I started my time tapering again it's been either 1 or 2 mgs. at a time.. I dunno yet, but thinking of going down by 3 this next Tues. I'm sure the very least will be one of those "looks" by one of the nurses! Well, it's MY taper & my life! I know that even if it does cause some minor discomfort, I'll survive! I think we've all been thru a lot worse! So, we'll just see. what happens!
I have believed in you & a few others here just by what you write! Mostly I'm glad to have so many writing on how things are gooing, what works, what doesn't, etc... I know it helps me more than I can say, to hear from you & everyone else about your experiences. I know that others have posted after they've been off a while & what many of them say has been invaluable! As much as I have wanted to start my taper, I admit I was afraid in the beginning for sevral reasons. My reasons for tapering are at least 4 or 5. It started with the prlonged QT Syndrome, & went to a few other reasons.
I know I'm jumping all over again! but mostly I just wanted to say that I appreciate yours & everyone else'sstories as we all go along. I never would've thought it would be that way for me, as it turns out I was very wrong about that, too! So thanx very much for being here & telling us how things are going with/for you! Look forward to hearing from you & everyone else any time! take care & be well

That's great dal33!

I am going down 2mgs a week now, and probably will stay here for a while, and then go slower as I get lower (20mgs or so). so far, so good! I am now on 74mgs/day.

Also, I have been dieting, on day 8 of a strict diet and working out daily with a trainer. I am downl 8lbs! finally!

The only way out is through...
