I've been on methadone for a little over a year. I've started to detox. (My dose was 130 and currenly I'm on 52mg). The nurses at the hospital told me that I should get off the methadone right away. My methadone clinic told me that that is the worst thing I could possibly do. Anyone who is pregnant or has had children while on MMT please respond with some advice. Also, what are the risks of being on methadone while pregnant? Thanks, Sarah

capebreton902 Member Posts: 10 Registered: Mar 2007  Posted March 30th, 2007 11:44 PM   IP              yess i agree with mary beth... im pregnant and is on methadone! and its the best thing to either stay on methadone and continue while pregnant and increase if nessecary its best to stay at the same dose throughout the whole pregnancy! i even know of girls who were addicts and were using and got pregnant and went to get help in detox and were put on the methadone asap just becuase they were pregnant & were addicted to opietes.. but whatever stay on the methadone hun while ur pregnant and try to stay on the same dose thru the whole pregnancy .. from what my meth doc told me! methadone is safe for the baby, there is a risk of withdrawel after birth but its not too common alot of babies are fine even if they have a little withdrawel they will be ok! dont worry about everything will be ok! ...kayLa dEnny
