Posted October 28th, 2005 07:27 PM IP Hi all!!!! Wow! I have been reading through the postings about "Methadonia" Boy I am glad i'm not the film maker. Even thought I feel that he did try in his own way not to portray anyone in a "bad" way he kinda did. At least i think, it showed about four- five people all truggling with addiction and MMT recovery. But, the one thing the film didn't show is those persons in MMT who are living a a wonderful life, all because they are on MMT.
We as a group got together here, in Youngstown and watched... There was alot of silence during the movie. I think we all can relate, at least somewhat. After the movie everybody was kinda taken back all it seemed to show was the idea of using Benzo's righg after you take your dose. For those persons who are still working on therr recovery it was an idea.... I don't know It portrayed MMT as liquid handcuffs" they kept saying that...I think you make of your recovery what you put into it and if you fill that you are restained then you need to deal with that issue.
One good thing the movie did, is point out to people who are using benzo's or using whatever that they look pretty dumb knodding out......
this is kinda of a bummer, I guess I was expecting something different.... Somebody needs to make a "positive" MMT movie.....Sorry I haven't been around to much..........Stacey May you be Blessed by the Grace of GOD..........

Posted November 2nd, 2005 02:18 PM IP I too believe the movie fell short, but his objective WAS to show methadone patients mixing their doses with benzos...and that is exactly what you said it did offer. So, really, he accomplished what he set out to do. It just lacked the info that this was one group of many in MMT. Like the group that only takes methadone and does nothing else for their recovery, or those that do work a rigid program along with their methadone, etc... We are all different, really. So, like I said, I do believe it fell short, but it did indeed acomplish what the director wanted to accomplish.
Jennifer Yeah, right...what does she know?!
