1st XI
Away to Hathern
Glen batted first and posted 237-7, Michael Hincks top scoring with 104 n.o. ably supported by James Bennett also hitting 60.
In response Hathern were bowled out for 190 giving glen a 47 run victory.
Sorry about the brief reports for the 1’s, if anyone else would like to add detail or write their own reports they are more than welcome!
2nd XI
Home to Broughton Astley
Glen lost the toss and were put into bat, losing Sodhi early on. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and thought the scoreboard was ticking over it required some positive batting late on to post a reasonable 175-9 in conditions that were going to favour the team batting second. Dave Ball hit 53, Collis Smith 24, Dave Pitcher 20* (including 16 off the last over!)
Broughton Astley never really got going in reply with early wickets for both John Ainsworth and Tim Odams. Then Glen really turned the screw with 3 wickets in 4 balls from Tim Odams (with a blatent hat trick/jug avoiding delivery in the middle!) and from then on it was only a matter of time. A wicket for Tim Andrews saw Broughton struggling at 40-7 before Dave Pitcher inrtroduced to the attack. Clearly bored with what was going on he took a hat-trick with his first 3 deliveries to seal a comprehensive victory which saw glen go top of the table for the first time.
