That's a sweet website too. I need inspiration because I'm going to create a website for Elise's parents' cottage. They're renting out the cottage where Elise's grandma used to live. Once I get some good photographs, I'll be HTMLing up a storm.

Now that I see Kevin's site, I think that sinister glowing playing cards is just the thing to draw people to a secluded Maine vacation paradise.

Does anyone have any favorite sites with a cool look that I could get ideas from?

Not exactly related (though I do go for those mad HTML skeelz--you da man, K1), but which Mu5tard album do you play on, Kevin (if any)? And does Manly do all the vocals? He's uh...how do you say it...um...yeah.
I have no idea what you're talking about...so here's a bunny with a pancake on its head.

'Manly?'

That's the word you were looking for, right?

I don't play on any of them yet. Although I can honestly say I would be embarrassed to perform on their early album. It's pretty bad. The Electra Glide CD is pretty good, but I think I've got more bass skillz than what is on that album. (There's 3 really good songs on it that I enjoy. Wait... 4.) We are writing new songs right now. ("We" = Kyle and I) We haven't decided if we're going to be selfish and keep them to finish our own CD or use them for Mu5tard yet. It'll depend on how manleyd... I mean mangled... they get after we try them with m5.

They hired someone to create the site a long time ago, and then they never updated it. I put up one update a couple weeks ago, and that's it. (Hence the procrastination.)

This game of see who can find Phil something he hasn't been able to look at for years because of internet filters seems fun...but shouldn't it be in the strange internet finds thread?

In an effort to move it to its rightful place, I submit to you a little something called the "Fat Chicks in Party Hats Dance."

You are about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop.

Ok, now I have created a website with an actual use. Behold!

http://home.comcast.net/~mainecottage/index.html

It's for Elise's parents' cottage that they are trying to rent out this summer. It belonged to Elise's late grandmother. The photography is not up to par but hopefully we will have better pictures soon. Comments/suggentions are welcome since this is my first real website.

Hey Jeff - I like your page!

Not thrilled by the name, though I can see the sentimental reasons for using it. Right now, it does look like an enticing place to stay, though!

It's funny that you mention the name ("Grandma's Cottage" for those who haven't visited the site yet). Naturally, Elise's dad thinks that it's an appropriate name for the cottage, but everybody else is not crazy about it. Elise, Sara, and their mom have been trying to talk him out of it for days. I hope they succeed.

Doesen't it sort of beg the question, "So where's grandma now?" And once they find out the answer, the next logical thought that passes through their head is, "Did she die in the cottage?"

We can all understand where Elise's dad is coming from. Your exactly right; he chose it for sentimental reasons, but we're all lookng at it from a marketing point of view.

We'll see. Maybe if you come back in a few days, there'll be a different title up there.

My thoughts exactly, Jeff.

It would be much more marketable with a name like one of the following:
• Auberge sur lac (Inn on the Lake)
• Auberge dans les bois (Inn in the woods)
• Auberge rouge dans les bois (Red Inn in the woods ...)
• Auberge rouge (... or 'Red Inn' for short)
• Auberge rouge dans le fτret (Red Inn in the Forest)
• La petite maison de Turmenne (Um ... Turmenne's Little House)
• Maison sur lac (House on the Lake)

More than meets the eye.

I like Maison sur lac, personally, though I'm not sure why Fil's so infatuated with French (aside from the last name of Jeff's in-laws), but it does sound pretty good.

I concur, Jeff. The other problem is that the passing of grandma is still fresh in Dad's mind, so if the topic comes up, he can't help but rehash the entire story of greed, intrigue and deception by several members of the local medical community. I can see someone calling to inquire about the place and getting an earful of that.
I am full of earth, You are heaven's worth. I am stained with dirt prone to depravity. You are everything that is bright and clean, the antonym of me. You are divinity. But a certain sign of grace is this: From the broken earth flowers come up pushing through the dirt. You are holy, holy, holy all heaven cries "Holy, holy God." You are holy, holy, holy I want to be holy like you are.

Here's one of those internet goldmines. It's called www.morguefile.com and it's just a huge collection of high resolution images. Most of them seem to be photographs. They are arranged by category and all of them are free. If you ever needed a random image for a website or whatever, here's the place to look.

Hey Kevin, is it SFW? I'm reeeeeeally curious.

I found a really cool site for science geeks. NASA created a program that displays the location of all earth-orbiting sattelites in real time.

http://science.nasa.gov/realtime/

This page has a bunch of cool stuff, but my favorite is Live 3D Java Tracking Display. Click on it and a little window pops up with an image of the Earth and little dots for all the sattelites. You can change the angle and zoom and stuff.

One thing that strikes me is that you can easily see where geosynchronus orbit is. There's a ton of stuff in near-Earth orbit, and almost everything else is in a Saturn-like ring about 3 Earth diameters above the equator. OK, that's enough geeky explanation. Click the link.
