My random music thoughts:
• Styx rule ... or is it Styx rules?
• I celebrate Collective Soul's entire catalog ...
• There is a song on Jimmy Eat World's Futures that sounds like it could be written/performed by Freddy Mercury ...
• I still listen to the Beatles and U2 often.
• Alexi Murdoch is one of the coolest Irishmen I know ...
• A lot of my favorite bands begin with the letter 'J'
• Jamie Cullum's cover of 'Wind Cries Mary' is one of the best I've ever heard.

More than meets the eye.

Lemmy is the lead singer of Motorhead. See IMOTORHEAD.com for info. He's ugly, nasty leader of the old school metal movement. He never sold out, you wouldnt see him on any reality show. Us metalheads see Motohead and Sabbath as the ones who started it all. Ozzy went commercial Lemmy never did. Plain and simple, hes the man. Download "killed by death" by motorhead. AWESOME!

For all you metal heads:

Living Sacrifice (R.I.P.) got back together and recorded a couple songs at the end of January for an upcoming album called In Memoriam. It will be a best of, but will be remixed, remastered versions and have 3 new songs. It will feature Bruce (singer from Reborn, Hammering Process, Conceived In Fire), Rocky (who joined Evanescence after LS broke up), and Lance (the best freaking drummer I have ever seen live. The guy is a maniac. He was so crazy, but the way he played he looked like it was taking no effort.)

I'm very excited. March 29th is too far away

Move out of your Moms basement and get a job. By the way, the minivan needs to be back in the driveway at 10 pm after the KIX concert.

Brian 'Head' Welch Leaves Korn, Citing Moral Objections To Band's Music
02.22.2005 1:10 PM EST

Guitarist plans to further explain his decision to a church congregation in Bakersfield, California, on Sunday.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, a founding member of Korn, has left the band and has rededicated his life to Christianity, according to the group's management.

"Korn has parted ways with guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch, who has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior, and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end," a statement from the band reads. "Korn respects Brian's wishes, and hopes he finds the happiness he's searching for."

The announcement puts to rest weeks of rumors that Welch was unhappy with Korn's direction. On February 8, he had apparently written a "letter of resignation" to the band's management. In the note, Welch detailed a long list of reasons for leaving the band, including increased moral objections to Korn's music and videos. In particular, he was upset by how he was portrayed in the clip for their cover of Cameo's "Word Up," off their recently released Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 album. In the video, Welch's face was superimposed on a dog patrolling a strip club.

"I can go up there and play those songs and those solos but ... I distanced myself from Korn for probably a year and a half, two years. I just wanted to fade away, it was crazy. I was so gone," Welch told Bakersfield, California, radio station KRAB on Sunday. "But I found my way out and I want to help anyone that wants to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I had to go through the lows to appreciate the highs and it's not perfect but it's damn near."

Welch plans on further explaining his decision to leave Korn this coming Sunday, when he'll address the congregation at the Valley Bible Fellowship in Bakersfield, California. And on February 28 he plans to leave for Israel.

Korn formed in 1992 as the Bakersfield metal act LAPD, which featured Welch and guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, bassist Reggie "Fieldy" Arvizu and drummer David Silveria. In 1993, vocalist Jonathan Davis joined the group, and they rechristened themselves Korn. Their self-titled 1994 debut went double platinum and was hailed as a landmark album in the burgeoning nü-metal scene. The group released six studio albums with Welch, sales of which have topped the 11-million mark in the U.S. alone. Their final album with Welch, Take a Look in the Mirror, was released in 2003.

According to Korn's management, the band is currently in the studio working on a new record, which is due in stores in September.

Blink-182 Announce 'Indefinite Hiatus' As Breakup Rumors Swirl
02.22.2005 2:10 PM EST

News comes after pop-punk trio pulls out of tsunami benefit show.

Blink-182 announced Tuesday they are going on an "indefinite hiatus," possibly bringing to a close their decade-plus career of catchy but angsty radio hits, goofball videos, stand-up comedy stage banter and millions of albums sold worldwide.

"For over a decade, Blink-182 has toured, recorded and promoted nonstop all while trying to balance relationships with family and friends. To that end, the band has decided to go on an indefinite hiatus to spend some time enjoying the fruits of their labors with loved ones," a statement from the band's management read. "While there is no set plan for the band to begin working together again, no one knows what tomorrow may bring."

After Blink pulled out of this weekend's Music for Relief: Rebuilding South Asia concert in Anaheim, California (see "Linkin Park, Jay-Z, No Doubt Rock The House To Rebuild South Asia"), and posted only a vague explanation of the cancellation on Blink182.com, fans began to speculate that Blink had split up, posting rumors they'd heard from anonymous backstage sources or "friends of the band."

But it was Dave Navarro — who played the concert with his group Camp Freddy — who really threw gasoline on the fire when he posted the following on his blog, 6767.com: "As I mentioned, Ozzy pulled out due to a family situation, but the big shock came when Blink-182 pulled out. Evidently, they broke up yesterday. ... I know how it can get when it's just not working anymore. ... Anyway, best of luck to those guys."

Though Navarro would later rescind his comments (and change the initial post), the rumors persisted throughout the weekend and led to Tuesday's announcement. There is no word on whether or not the hiatus will affect any of the bandmembers' side projects, which include the bands Boxcar Racer and the Transplants as well as various business endeavors.

Good for Head. I find it very "easy" for this to happen. He'd been complaining about the direction of Korn for the last couple of albums. The last one was really good, but they have have a few bombs in the past.
Overall I think they are pretty crappy. I saw then on Ozz '03. and they were better then all the rest. Except for Ozzy of course.
