Posted May 7th, 2012 09:59 AM IP Hi Ankur,
My son is 8 and has lost a couple baby teeth now. Our experience has been that pressure with gauze works to stop the bleeding. Others on this board have different techniques that work well too. We found that his teeth would bleed a lot prior to coming out as well. We just have to be diligent about putting on pressure. His hemoglobin did drop once with the second tooth he lost because we let the oozing go on for a few days. As long as we stay on top of it, the teeth seem to come out fine and we are able to stop the bleeding. We also found that each tooth loss is different; the first tooth stopped bleeding after about 30 minutes of pressure but the second tooth, we thought stopped, but then kept oozing for days. So it just depends. Good oral hygiene will always help. Even when the mouth is bleeding we make sure Quinn brushes and flosses daily. We can hold pressure after if we need to, it is just so important for healthy gums and teeth that kids with GT always brush and floss. They have the potential for terrible gum bleeding when they get older if they do not keep good hygiene.
Hope this is helpful!
Take care,
Tami
