I have been meaning to post this for wee while - finally got round to it!

"Blythe tae meet,
Wae tae part,
Blythe tae meet aince mair"

This is known as the Bon-Accord toast - "Happy to meet, sorrowful to part, happy to meet once again."

"Bon-Accord" was the password used by the citizens of Aberdeen in 1308 when they rose up, killed the English garrison and captured the town for Robert the Bruce. Bon-Accord is now the motto of the City of Aberdeen.

We call it the Junior Wardens toast, and I believe it's also an official part of closing the Lodge in our working. (without all those "ae's" that is!)

Right you are A.T.
Part of closing in the first, and the final tiast at the festive board proposed by the M of C (JW).
I'm pretty sure it's the same in Peter's jurisdiction.

Practical experience is the best teacher

We don't have it as the JW's Toast. It's the Tyler's toast here and I have only heard it after the Installation Meal.

But it was to interesting to not the history of the toast.

"Happy to meet, sorry to part, happy to meet again"

This is posted prominently on official (Municipal) signs as you exit Whitby, Ont. from any direction......... Presumably there's a Masonic connection... I'll have to try find out unless anyone knows out there.
