Just thought I'd sing the Jambos praises for their complete and utter destruction of Hibs in the final.

5 mins into the 2nd half young McGowan had the Hibees heading for the exits in their droves with his diving header to make it 1-4. Had Hearts not taken the foot off of the gas into the 2nd half a rout of epic preportions may well have insued. Instead we had to be content with Skacel's carefully placed low shot into the corner to make it 1-5. The shouts of ole with each Hearts pass must have added to Hibs frustration in a final that they just didn't show up in. This was all the more surprising given the weight of history attached this game.

When you see a game like this with both sets of fans turning up in numbers to create an amazing atmosphere it does serve to remind us that there is more to Scottish fitba than the Old Firm. Apparently the fans weren't segregated before and after the game and were mixing readily with no sign of trouble. Strathclyde police reported 2 arrests for minor disorder offences. In Edinburgh there was 8, and that included the 100,000,000 who were at the victory parade the following day. Concidering the numbers involved that is pretty impressive.

But we Hibees are well used to disappointment and would never expect to win a cup final - never, ever, have done in the 12 or 13 we have been to.

I accept the right of a victorious team to gloat a wee bit and however much it hurts me I have to congratulate you ye - effin jambo's.

The good news is that the Edinburgh end not only produced both finalists but that their supporters handled the event without any violent disorder.

Sad about Hibees performance but we got to a final in a bad season - then well shafted even if it might have given us something to base a prayer on for the future - we were well out of our depth in that final..

Accept "complete and utter destruction" but would, honestly, never get to that level of gloating if it went the other way round.

Happy with wider poinst re atmosphere and discipline etc

Nice to see that you decided to return from deepest darkest Peru Scoop.

Ha ha. I thought that my level of gloating was quite restrained in the circumstances? After all I wasn't so unkind as to mention that Baffalo Bill was touring in Europe last time Hibs won the cup or that their victory parade was in a horse drawn tram. :-D
