God I hate Saturday's when the games aff!
Anybody up for playing an additional online game that takes one reply only from you and is updated automatically without any further input?
It involves local teams including Juniors and I'll put a bottle of Speysides finest up for grabs for the winner.
Tempted?
...then confirm by next Wednesday (17th) that you are up for it and also pick a Junior team from the North Region to start the ball rolling.
All, as they say, will be explained later!!
Oh... the name of the game is "THE RACE TO HAMPDEN"

Okay Folks...here goes, its probably easier to play the game than it is to explain how it works, but I will try my best.
You have all now become "Managers" of your respective teams and the game is played on actual results. Some of you may have more than one fixture in any given week based on real games.
You remain in charge of your team until such time you lose a match (draws mean that you remain as manager of the original team). If you have a fixture against a team which is managed by one of the other entries, then the fixture is "void" and both managers continue with their clubs into the following respective fixtures (there is one exception to this which will be explained in a moment).
Once you lose a match, you then become the manager of the team that beat you!
This continues until you manage a team that plays a game at Hampden.
There are a number of ways this can be achieved, your team could end up being Queen's Park (at home), or playing Queens Park (away) or appearing at Hampden in a semi final or final.
Aberdeenshire League games don't count by the way.
Warning, losing to the wrong team might mean that you end up in a remote league or even country!!
The exception to opponents being drawn against each other is of course when both respective teams end up playing each other at Hampden! If that happens a count back to see who got to Hampden in the least number of games will decide who wins. If that doesn't split the two finalists then the winner of the actual fixture itself will determine the winner. Simples!!
You might be thinking how the hell can I end up at Hampden starting at the likes of Hermes? Well you'll be surprised how quickly it can be won, then again the game could end up going through into next season (dinna think that will happen).
Clear as mud? ....Thought so!
I'll list this weekends round of fixtures to set the ball rolling on my next post!

The competition kicks off this coming Saturday which immediately gives us our first void match with Scoop's Culter and HMFC-1874's Hermes facing each other in the Superleague. Early favourites have to be Scoop and G-Unit as Scoop will see his side possibly facing senior opposition in the Scottish Cup next month. G-Unit (Banks o' Dee) could step up a grade fairly quickly if he wins his junior match then loses out to Highland League Deveronvale midweek!

Only three managers were made to change clubs after this weekends first round of fixtures. BLACKDOG, LODGER and CHEEKY all lost their debut matches and now take up the reigns of their victors Glentanar, Lewis Utd and Buchanhaven Hearts respectively.
Banks o' Dee scraped a goaless draw at Hall Russell Utd meaning that G-UNIT goes into pole position to step up to "senior" status should his side lose to Deveronvale in the Aberdeenshire cup on Monday night.
HMFC-1874 makes his debut with Hermes in the one other midweek fixture after being idle on Saturday through a void fixture against SCOOP'S Culter.

As expected G-UNIT took a giant leap forward in the "Race to Hampden" in midweek when Banks o' Dee lost to Deveronvale in the Aberdeenshire Cup. He could also make a further leap forward in the next round should he lose to Aberdeen, providing Vale can take care of Brora at the weekend. CHEEKY and BLACKDOG are forced to sit this weekend out as their respective teams face each other.

Monday is a big day for the competition as in addition to G-UNIT having the opportunity to step up to Premier League status should Deveronvale lose out to Aberdeen in the cup, SCOOP will also find out who Culter's opponents will be in the Scottish Cup (assuming he will still be in charge of them come the 24th September)

G-UNIT will have to hope that Deveronvale go on a 2 month winning run if they are to be his passport to meeting Scottish League opposition in the 2nd round of the Scottish cup after Vale's superb result against the Dons last night. SCOOP will see Scottish Cup action in September though when Culter entertain Burntisland in the 1st Round. It could be all change before then of course depending on domestic results. The rest of us will have to see how well we fare in the Scottish Junior Cup draw to see if we can sneak in the back door and have an outside chance of moving up a grade.

G-UNIT was bemoaning the fact on Friday night that he had failed to take a significant step forward in the competition by beating Aberdeen last week. However, spare a thought for RED 1973 who thought things couldnt get any worse after his Ellon Utd side were beaten by Cruden Bay when they in turn are beaten by Fochabers!
.and then he is forced to sit out a week when the fixtures threw him up against BLACKDOGS Glentanar. Nae Luck Min!

Things are getting to be interesting ahead of the two national cup competitions which are due to be played in the next few weeks. SCOOP failed miserably yesterday to hold on to that golden Scottish Cup ticket when Maud overcame Culter. What makes things more interesting is that CHEEKY can enter the fray at an earlier stage than expected if his Dyce outfit lose at Culter next week.

Its all eyes on Culter next week as CHEEKY becomes the first manager to compete in the Scottish Cup. It could however go horribly wrong and he could end up playing in the depths of Amateur football the week after!

A slight slip up on my part having failed to note that SCOOP has a fixture this afternoon with Maud facing Inverness City in the Grill Cup Final. Well done CHEEKY on Culter beating Burntisland. CHEEKY joins G-UNIT in the hat for the 2nd Round of the Scottish Cup and become joint favourites to win the race!

I certainly cant be accused of cheating at my own game after East Ends incredible result on Saturday. Fair to say that my fixtures for the near future will certainly not see me heading for Hampden,
but you never know! G-UNIT also blew it going down to Turriff 3:1. One midweek fixture this week sees CHEEKY heading for Spain Park tomorrow night. Well done BLACKDOG and LODGER who were the only two to win a game at the weekend!

Fixtures are getting interesting again with the Scottish Cups (Senior & Junior) on the horizon. RED1973 has undoubtedly the worst managerial record so far. You have to go back to the 20th August for his last win. He'll soon have been at more clubs than Barry Somers!!

CHEEKY flies the flag today in the Scottish Cup with an opportunity to progress to Senior status should he lose to Spartans. Either way, if his side go unbeaten for the best part of a month then he could be the first to Hampden depending on how the draw goes next week. G-UNIT can only dream of what might have been as his former club Deveronvale take on Berwick Rangers. What a pity no-one was in charge of Huntly as a draw today would have seen them at Hampden next week and winners before the end of October. ....alas!
