ORIGINAL POST:
I was reading that the 99,00 SI's, and EX's came with keyless entry modules... is this true? If it is, how hard would be to buy like a keyless remote off of ebay for $25 and then get it programmed to the car?

EDIT:
If your EM1 still has the OEM keyless entry module installed (its a white box located behind the driver side kick panel) and you don't want to spend the money on an alarm system yet, you can opt to buy a used keyless entry remote off of ebay for around $25-$35 dollars if you want keyless entry.
The keyless entry remote's FCC ID must match your module's FCC ID, being the beginning part "A269ZUA", in my case, my module was "A269ZUA123" and the used remote I bought off of ebay was "A269ZUA106"

Alright I found the keyless entry module, it's located behind the driver side kick panel.

I guess in order to work, I have to find a remote with the same FCC ID in order to program it, and from looking on places like ebay, this is going to be a challenge.

But still, heck, I had no idea the car had/came with keyless entry, so this changes everything haha.

And it looks like to program, the steps are the same or similar to this page http://www.ehow.com/how_7763475_pro...onda-civic.html

So here is some information for people who are like me and didn't know either.

EDIT: Bad Grammar

save yourself the trouble and get an aftermarket alarm it will enable the keyless entry option without having to find the oem remote and youll have a much better alarm than oem also

ej1serge, yeah I will eventually do that option.
but I picked one of the remotes on ebay at random, got it today (saturday) and got it programmed less then a minute and everything works, i was surprised.

so here is a little technical information for those who might want to look into using the factory box. my oem keyless entry module had the FCC ID A269ZUA123.
The keyless entry remote i ordered on ebay (for $25 + free shipping) had the FCC ID A269ZUA106.

The part of the FCC ID that must match is the "A269ZUA" part. I think it's the 97-00 civics or something like that. The remote through only has a lock/unlock/panic buttons. I haven't tested the panic button yet, but the using the lock/unlock also makes the headlights and taillights flash like expected. but there isn't a trunk button.
there is some remotes on ebay that has a trunk button but i don't know if they would work.

I'm gonna edit my original post to mimic this information.

Way to go reviving an old thread... Lol. Just kidding, i don't have a problem with that. And yeah that method works, that's why i updated the thread with that information. Buy a compatible used (or new) factory remote. Then program it to the car. Should be instructions online somewhere. Also i don't know why i was thinking about getting one with a trunk button, there is no electronic release for the trunk.
